So im making tracks, but i have no idea how to change frequencies on my sounds, so they all kind jumble up together.. bass is wobblin, so it really takes away from the drum hits or somethin.. i want to sound crisp..

im on fl studio.

A compressor reduces the peaks of a signal by a certain ratio, everytime the peaks cross a certain threshold level. Typically, a compressor will have a 'ratio' knob, which if set to say... 8:1, everything that crosses the threshold will be reduced 8x. They also, oten have an attack and a decay, used to control how fast this reduction starts to happen, and how fast it stops happening.

A limiter is just a compressor with a ratio of 10:1 or higher.

Headroom is the amount of meter you have left on your 'master' mixer track before the signal goes above the 'unity' or '0db' line. You should try to control all your instruments individually so at the end of the tune, the master meter stays at around the -6 to -10 mark in the loudest parts of the track, without having to turn the master fader down. This prevents clipping
