In the air force, my classification before I went combat comm was ATC Radio and we had to do antenna repair. The highest I ever went was about 650 feet and damn near shit myself. 1800 feet is unimaginable

watching that literally made me feel sick, heights freak me out found that out the hard way when i was 15 by doing the harbour bridge climb getting up was alright coming back down was a no go, froze up an almost started having a panic attack. fun times!

General consensus here seems to be one of 'fuck that'. I am inclined to agree. Fuck fucking that.

some of those guys make 6 figures plus to do that

a guy i worked with in ATC Radio joined a traveling team that basically gets paid to travel around the country checking out antennas, changing lights, etc. They make about $125k a year, get per diem, and apparently party fucking hard on the company dime. Says they work about 3 days a week travel about 3 and chill on sundays. Still $125k for that is insane

For that money, I would do it definitely, unless of course in the contract it stated you weren't allowed to bring your own parachute. haha

I think I can put my fears behind for me a 6 figure salary.
