So my bitch computer is saying "consider replacing your battery" and i did a energy report and it says it only has 36% capacity instead of 100 like when i first got it. so ive already priced a 12 cell bettery for 30 bucks off amazon. but my question is this. even though its plugged in would it make a computer slower whilst producing? Cause FL is bogging down with the buffer all the way up like never before. im talking about freezing for 5 seconds, laggy ass mouse and crackle city. Would a shitty but still plugged in battery cause this?

nah as long as ur plugged in it should not effect your computers performance.
my old PC would last 10 minutes on battery after only 2 years old but while plugged in it still ran everything fine (games etc)
but my macbook is coming up on 2 years old with 400 full cycles on it and it still has 88% battery capacity

simple test take the battery out and just plug in lappy if it still is slow its something else (probably porn lol and crap like that malware yay).
but as a pc tech, the battery should not be doing anything to slow your pc down.... its just a battery mang.

That's weird. Might try doing a System Restore to before the problem started. I know there are settings that throttle the power of your CPU and whatnot to give you longer battery life but I wouldn't think having your battery crap out would make Windows change any of 'em on it's own.
If you use the internet and install non-music stuff on your laptop, it would be a good idea to make sure it ain't got any viruses, spyware, adware, or just unnecessary crap runnin'.

nah i dont dl porn. thats why its hosted on the webs! i mean, maybe my comp is really just shitting out, the project did have like 20 massives and 10 FM8s with 65+ insert effects. I probably am just trying to blame the battery instead of saying i finally capped my cpu, i thought my comp was strong : /.
doin a virus scan right now though just to be safe.

clean out the hard drive too, always puts less pressure on the system.... i literally cleaned 50 fucking gigs off my hard drive with various free system utilites/ disk cleaners

A defrag will help.
It will just arrange all your files into neat blocks rather than all over the place.
Have you never defragged before?
Delete some movies you`re not going to watch.

why didnt i think of that. im deleting movies i already watched. if it moves them around it wont fuck up my project files will it?? cause i keep audio files on the disk in all of my project files.
and yeah ive never defragged for fear of it messing up my projects.

It doesn`t move the files to new locations.
It just reorganizes the physical bits into a more orderly fashion.
It creates an organized index table which is faster to index.
You can do the math on the rest.

It does not really move them around, the fragments of a file can be all over your HD and your PC could be running slower because it has to look all over the place.
Defragging only organized the fragments better, the files remain in their normal file path.
EDIT: electric beat me to it, and explained it better

I would do a full defrag anyway.
It`s worth it.

Running out of space on your HD can cause stupid amounts of problems - its good to keep about 35% free at all times.. Back up on DVDs or buy an external if you need space; you can also get those big fack off storage tank things which have like 2-3tb's and plug into the mains then into USB.. Actually thinking of investing in one as a home-server storage for backing up the 9-10 years worth of music (and porn) whats on my hd's.
If you're on Windows; gets CCleaner and a proper defragger (the windows one is SHITE, even on 7)

I think defraggler is what I use too.
