audacity

Can anyone tell me why I can't save my files that I record off audacity. I can record bits of songs and movies but I can neither save or listen to them can anyone help me?

So, once you've recorded something into Audacity, you can't playback? Or it's not giving you anything to play back?

Only reason I can think of that it wouldn't be recording properly is that it's not recording stereo mix? On W7 by any chance? I can't sort it out

No when I hit record on Audacity it shows up fine on the wave length but when I try to play the clip that I recored it does not let me... When I try to record a clip I just play the song out loud on my laptop is that wrong do I need a mic? And also when I try to save that same clip it does not let me

Definitely sounds like stereo mix is not enabled...

I still can't. I think I would need to install older updates as the newer ones don't allow you to enable stereo mix in W7
