hi guys,
im relatively new on this forum and also to all music production in general so forgive me for any mistakes.
I was wondering if anybody new some good monitor speakers for around £150 that i could buy for myself, as at the moment i just have to survive with headphones, which aren't ideal as sometimes i realise something is far too loud when listening in the car but sounded fine with headphones.
Obviously i am mainly producing dubstep so it would have to be good with the bass frequencies, but also i like making a variety of other genres so it would be helpful to have a sort of good basic all-rounders - (I use logic on a mac, not sure if that makes a difference). Thanks in advance if anybody can help me

I like my KRK rokit 8's, I hear good things about the Samson Rubicons as well. Do you have a sound card with 1/4 in jack outputs? Monitors won't do a whole lot of good unless they're receiving a strong clean signal.

Could only afford the Rokit 6's, but they are amazing as well. I'd highly recommend a pair from the KRK Rokit series.

Also consider Yamahas, they're pretty good as well!

Monitors aren't something you will want to buy cheap. Get a pair of monitoring headphones like the AKG K240, Sennheiser HD280 Pro, Shure SRH440/840/940, AudioTechnica ATH-M50s, etc. and save up to buy some high-end monitors down the road.

I highly recommend KRK Rokit 6'.They're great monitors with a very unbiased frequency response.I have used M-Audio,Yamaha etc.in the price range £150 and I would say the KRK Rokit's are by far the best monitors in that price range.I own a pair of the 6's and I love them.I have absolutely no regrets about getting these particular monitors.

If I was in the market of getting monitors at the moment..
After Adams released the A5/7X - i'd not compromise and get the slightly cheaper (and cheaper sounding in my opinion) KRK's.
They're my personal favourite higher midrange monitors (anything under 1,000/over 500).
It has to be said with monitors you shouldn't ever "settle" for a pair due to budget and save to get something YOU like the sound of, a good pair of monitors will last you a life time when you treat them right.
600-700 pound purchase for something what would last so long i'd be able to give my children them with my 1210s and vinyl collection? Its not really THAT much money.

As a note if your budget is tight, you can get a very decent pair of headphones for the price of 1 average monitor

I think you might want to consider Samson Rubicons or their current line Resolv.

These are not great, but a very good (maybe the best) option in their price range. Sound is going to be a bit colored (the frequency response curve is not as flat as in the upper class monitors) and bass is probably something to be described warm rather than accurate. The 5" and 6" models probably need a sub, but 8" models go pretty low. Rubicon series has been discontinued and replaced by Resolvs
That being said, I'd recommend you to consider a pair of good headphones. I have Shure SRH-840's and I'm happy with them. Since I don't have a spare room with acoustic treatment correctly done, I think a pair of headphones is a better choice for me.

Nice stuff!!! If possible can you post few snaps of the speakers for better understanding? Thanks in advance.
