Nexus is fantastic for airy sounding instruments, bells, plucked instruments, the intro goodies, basically.

nexus is amazing but takes the fun out of making your own sounds.. also its expensive as f**k! but its good-ish value for its price.

you can just use massive for your intros man, I find arps work well with filling intros out, and you want to find yourself a nice punchy lead and a hook if your going for that brostep feel :) Try playing formant oscilators with full intensity at low octaves :) Easy flux/skrillex lead right there

i tend to make really simple intros, a lot of the time its just loads of atmospherics like delayed and reverbed samples, timestretching random stuff etc. but that doesnt work well for brostep if thats what your going for, only really works if your on an underground tip.

Sylenth. I particulary like the more melodic, arpeggiated intro's (dare I say even trancey) before being hit with the filth. Sylenth is brilliant for this. Depends what you're after though. If you want a more atmospheric intro something like Absynth is a good shout.

Freeware - Charlatan, Rez, Oatmeal, Crystal, Zebralette, etc.

I use all of them at one point.

Sytrus, FM8. People really underestimate the power of frequency modulation.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

i heavily simplified version of the bass at the drop, with lots of variation in the perc. on the build. lots of one shots and shit, i also am a huge fan of Fx automation in the intro, ya know ? adding a bunch of stuff that people like hearing.
You gotta make the intro really intersting so the listener is lured in, then you murder them with your drop. or just blow their minds with the soul of the drop, cause its not always about the filth level.... cough cough... skrillex :6: .... cough cough...
Yeah i dissed skrillexes fatigueing sound.. go ahead bitch at me for it. :t:
