I've never seen one this big in the UK. I'm willing to bet this aint the biggest either.

I heard a rumour that spiders are coming from other countries and breeding here. Not sure how true this is.

I've seen ones as big as that in the bathroom this time of year... he's just looking for a mate!

and normal spiders are bad enough anyway, but that prick is on another level.

But, seriously I've never seen a spider this big in the UK. If I seen that in my bathroom I'd slap it with a rolled up newspaper and get the cat in there to finish it off.

I woke up to a massive house spider crawling on me a few weeks ago. I don't usually have a problem with spiders but that was a horrific moment.

But yeah, I have an uneasy truce with the spiders at the moment. One of those bastards bit me on the nose a couple of months ago while I was sleeping. My nose is still slightly discolored and I can still see the tiny scar where the fangs got me. Not lying...

I actually like big spiders if they're outside and doing their own thing. We used to have a huge one that always built a web in our front window so you could look out and inspect all the patterns on his body from the safety of behind the glass. But when they're inside and speedy and adventurous I hate em.

then they get eaten

i dont kill spiders anymore, well i never killed them in the first place, my dad reckons they're sacred, i reckon they eat flies and other more irritating creatures

few weeks ago i was lying in bed, watching tv, see a shadow dart across the screen, realise its a spider almost instantly and its on my bed well close to my chin so i swipe at it, get out of bed, switch my light on, look on my duvet for the spider so i can remove the little fucker, see its not there... there's only one place it can be... it was just on my leg, chillin. flicked it off and it SCUTTLED into the corner of the room

Yeah, my Buddhist tendencies have me not comfortable with killing them but I do usually deposit them outside.

They have already bit me twice in the last 3 months since I moved into this apartment and they know I'm rather pissed at them.

I told them that I would act without prejudice if they bit me again.

Urgh.

I used to have a tarantula. Those are cute compared to those big ass ugly UK spiders. But, aside from that, the only encounter I've had with a UK spider was in my garden. I was playing with sticks as a kid and one huge thing crawled on my leg. I literally ran screaming.

I can deal with exotic spiders that are in a tank. I'd never hold one though.
