Dubstep Need a little help..

Post by knightmare » Mon Oct 17, 2011 8:00 am

First of all i am kind of a newb to dubstep i started about a month ago...
i am getting pretty good but am missing a few key elements i was hopeing
somone could help! I run fl studios and massive, nexus etc... the main issue
i am having is the "punching, Pulling and Twisting" bass that you hear in
so many dubstep songs i.e 1:27 - 1:42 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cXDgFwE13g&ob=av2e
and any other random advice i am trying to figure out how to make them...

The videos in that thread are for Massive. You use Massive as per your OP. They should be fairly easy to follow.

Bass between 1:27 and 1:42? What? Is that what qualifies as bass these days?

Watch all the videos in that Skrillex thread, they should give you a good starting point of techniques to try.

Midrange - range of frequencies generally found between the highs and the lows
Synth - electronic synthesiser
Lead - that bit of the tune you'll hum when trying to describe it to a friend

oooo ok.. see heres my issue.. i have a song
the bassline isnt bad but you know when there is
some really grungy bass drops there are certain
basses you hear in all dubstep a very hard hitting
bass its so difficult to describe thats why i used the song

basically my drop is either boring..
or its messy

My advice is: If you have no musical talent you can't make music...

So give up, please.
