knife party spacial processing/verb?

this has really got me thinking today....

how are they doing the spacial processing on these track? is it just a really good reverb?
if you listen to all the bass/synths you can hear that they almost sounds like the top end is "closed". also, in the same way that drums or vocals can sound "in your face" or "forward" in the mix by limiting them.. the synths and bass have the same type of feeling but with a width...

maybe just a really good convolution reverb on the entire mix?
experimenting now, wondering if anyone else has some insight into this.

listen especially around 1:10. you can really hear how this mix has a "closed ceiling" on the width/depth of the verb.

looking like the answer is actually NON convolution reverb. super small room size, lots of early reflections... testing this using sonnox oxford reverb on my drums and bass right now and sounding awesome. going to add the mix buss as well.

oxford reverb is amazing shame i cant afford it.. i love the early reflections its nice for giving any sound more flavour. i use a free plugin called ambience, u might be able to get a similar effect tweaking the parameters.

I would say ask Rob, But I doubt he would reply or let you in on his secrets haha. One thing Ive started to notice is everyone says keep your sub and lower frequencies Mono, However if you put a lowpass filter on any Knife Party track (To below 100hz) and then a stereo position plug in like Waves - Paz Position you can see that it isnt mono :S Is that something to do with putting the reverb over the whole mix?

Maybe if the reverb wasn't hipassed...reverb without hipass isn't normally a good idea though

That just has everything to do with the fact your filtering things...

you filter something the stereo upper elements are still there, just quieter now the more octaves you go up.

you'd need his stems/project file, and then the sub solo'd to know if it was stereo or mono.

I think the fact that those are pretty live-sounding drums and not your standard venegeance-y slammed electro drum sounds is making you hear things differently.

good, pretty distorted drum samples, lots of 3k. not much going on in terms of reverb to my ears-- yeah, some short rooms or plates as has been mentioned, but nothing crazy. just more internal ambience, via the samples and sounds, than most electro tunes these days.

"It features ten original reverberation algorithms (including the latest Dark reverb modes, Nostromo, Narcissus, and Sulaco)"

Sounds amazing off to check this out, I think I saw this in a reverb magazine shootout, remember the interface.
