Good game everyone. Some great stuff in this comp yet again. Mine was Corn Flakes. The original name for it is Pod People, and you can download it off my soundcloud if you want it.
Lets go Weetabix! Avenge my untimely demise so that I may rest in peace!

Re: October comp FINAL!
Coco pops seriously NEEDS to win. Weetabix is nice too, but coco pops honestly outshines any other track in this comp considerably...not a diss to any of the other tracks, but a compliment to this one.

Weetabix is beast
However coco pops is some wonky ass shit, espesh at the end, and makes me want to listen to it again. And the fact that its short is a plus imo. I like it when a song is too short rather than too long. I think I know who made it.

My tune was Muesli, originally titled ☺, but I think I'll go with Muesli because that's cooler. lol It's in my sig now, and you can download it if you'd like.

Please forgive the ramblings and seemingly meaningless use of strange adjectives but here is my 'Review' (INCOMING WALL O' TEXT):
I'm going for Weetabix on this one. It has a really clear and solid feel to it, in terms of actual sounds, the drum programming and samples aren't exactly ground breaking but it delivers what is needed and that is the key aspect here, Coco Pops may deliver better sounds in the drums and such but where it gains (very slightly) with drums it lacks in solidity and general arrangement, and by that I mean Coco Pops doesn't seem to 'gel'. Back to Weetabix, I was particularly interested with the synths on the second drop, they really elevate the track, and turn it from an OK track into a "hmm this is rather good, I think my head is bobbing uncontrollably" track. And sure it isn't perfect but it doesn't go outside the box (normally that isn't a good thing), of course originality is a definite factor to consider here and if it were that it was being judged on, Coco Pops would win hands down, it is sonically way more experimental. But like I said before it is the fact that Weetabix delivers what is needed rather than floating around on a magical tour of the galaxy (on a large trippy green mushroom) like Coco Pops does. It may be different and more adventurous but it lacks the gel and confidence that Weetabix has, if you can understand what I mean by that. If I were to compare the two in terms of auto-mobiles, Coco pops would be the v8 muscle car, and Weetabix would be the tuned japanese street car. Although the muscle may be more powerful (replace that with original in respect to this comparison), it has far too much power for its body and tends to skid all over the place, revving like an angry beast, whereas the tuned street car is spared of brute force / power and unnecessary clutter, and as such is armed with only the essentials coupled with a decent twiddle of the setup, making it a far more responsive, agile competitor, it may not be totally flawless and tends to miss out in several aspects but it gets the job done so to speak.
Crude comparison I know but that is basically what I am trying to say here.
Respect to both producers and all the runners-up, this gave me an interesting half hour.

Lots of validity to your statements, but your comment about the second drop of weetabix made me think... well... then the second drop should be the first drop. I mean I personally didn't even listen to the second drop because the first one didn't do it for me. Now this is just personal preference, but methinks that a song should be catchy from the get go. It's like making an advertisement or an argument... if you don't hook the consumer within the first thirty seconds then people are just going to ignore you or disregard what you have to say. Such is the way of 'too long, didn't read' (or listen in this case).

Re: October comp FINAL!
you sort of put your tongue over your front teeth and make a little kissing noise (whilst giving them a dirty look)
Dang, I wish my song would've made it to the finals to get a review like that!
Re: October comp FINAL!
not to be a dick but this is dubstep, not an advert- its not about selling something, its about developing ideas over time, artistic self expression, aswell as creating a vibe over creating something catchy. Thats where i think the genre's lost its way, a load of people with tiny attention spans who cant cope with ideas slowly developing being on a par with showing everything you have in the first 10 seconds after the drop.MoonUnit wrote:@ sine.here:

i guess hutyluty already addressed this but i am going to chime in and say this post horrified me in many ways. please have respect and don't compare tunes to "making an advertisement"MoonUnit wrote:@ sine.here:

edit: i voted for weetabix but both are v good !!!

Re: October comp FINAL!
I think all MoonUnit was trying to say was that a song should interest the listener as soon as it starts.
