KillerKat's Play It (WIP)

This is KillerKat. I switch frequently between Abelton and Reason because I just can't decide on one they both can just squeeze out such dirty beautifully filthy sounds. This current track is my first serious stab at a club banger since I just played some of my tunes before a nice size crowd and it gave me a really good idea of what those crazy fockers crave :h:
:C:

Anywho, this is a work in progress, mainly because while I was in progress of working on it my computer nearly crashed on me! :u: Too many movie samples, sound packs, and producer stuff I guess. So until I can go to Target in the morning & get an 2TB external, I won't be able to finish it & send it off for mastering. I'm pretty happy with everything in it other than it not being finished, but all feedback is still welcome!

So to you fellow producers, have a listen... :Q:

Thought I'd return the favour.

The intro reminds me of the final countdown. I kinda like it.

The drop is HUGE. I'm getting a really prominent bass which is always good. Just be sure to check the levels and keep it constant because at very low frequencies the volume difference between bass notes can be huge depending on the effects you are running and the synth you've chosen. I like the lead sound. Personally, I'd vary it a bit more. The percussion track and little accent elements are great. I would be inclined to vary the percussion track a lot more. It can be such a driving force in a track. Use it.

As for the mix, the bass levels are something I'd address first. The lead synth sounds a bit quiet. I'd raise that and lower the bass in a lot of parts. It sounds like the bass isn't glued to the lead, but the sounds are both good.

The sound overall is huge! Nice work. It's definitely got that 'now' sound and feel that seems to have taken a lot from hardcore breakdowns and is popular in clubs.

I totally agree on everything you said. As soon as I go buy this external so I can free up space to run all my DAW's with no glitch interruptions, I've got some serious mixing down to do with the track.

Thanks for the reply John!

I know what you mean. I recently finished a computer build that gives me enough power to run everything without any processing hangups. My projects have jumped in quality now that I can mix realtime.
