IMPULSE is Berlin’s weekly Dubstep night on Thursdays presented by various crews of the scene. This week’s IMPULSE is hosted by DUBMARINE with the following line-up:
1Way
With his first music accomplice, Deadly Cut, he starts exploring sounds between broken beat, new jazz and hiphop. In 99 he's in the centre of the drum n bass movement in his hometown of Porto, with nights at the cities biggest clubs like Mau Mau, Hard Club and Meia Cave. Between 2000 and 2002, 1Way plays with names such as LTJ Bukem, London Elektricity, DJ Krust among others.
In 2002 he moves to London and widens his musical spectrum and becomes a resident at the east London nights Antisocial, shares sets with legendary producer Arthur Baker and starts playing frequently at the acclaimed club Fabric.He becomes a regular guest from DJ Buster at the radio show Basspaths - Badmood/Wireless FM and soon after, that starts showing on his productions where he takes a dub techno and dubstep approach.
Besides his strong links with the Badmood Crew, 1Way has releases with the Berlin label Dubstep Division Records and with the Porto collective Faca Monstro. At the moment he has a partnership with DJ Ruido, the project ALMA, producing music, sound tracks for TV, theatre and sound design. 1Ways DJ sets explore music between ambient and techno, going through house and dubstep, but always with a common reference point, bass heavy music.
Bossy
Bossy from Berlin is behind the Way Of The Dub party series, the real grassroots event for the heads. Around in Berlin nightlife since before the wall came down, he started to organize parties in the late 90s, featuring mostly Noise, Breakcore and Avantstuff. He played sum gigs with his AV- Liveproject Whitespace and focused on VJing for a while, but later on decided to take DJing more seriously. Bossy discovered Dubstep in 2005, became a Freak Camp member for some time and began in summer 2008 with his own Dubstep parties, so far with guests like Slaughter Mob, Jamie Vex’d, DJ Madd, Von D, Mahanee, Wedge and yes, Borgore.
