uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
anyways i been getting into a lot of uk funky and future dub step. what synths would you people suggest for those low sub by bass sounds. also how would i go about creating them. any tutorials people know of? i haven't found any. i know how to make a sub bass but am having trouble getting the sound i hear in roska , pearson sound etc... tunes. anyways thanks in advance. it seems like most of those tunes are between 135-145 am i right?

ya ... thanks man. i can't seem to get the sub bassy sound i hear in most of there tunes. its very distinct. i d not know maybe I'm screwed cause my monitors don't have a great freq range but i usually can hear it fine on my laptop when i am listening to martyn , roska, the new scuba mix, pearson/ ramadanman etc.

Do you have an example of a tune you're referring to? All the producers you've mentioned so far are pretty diverse in their sounds.

Re: uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
most of their bass will have additional higher frequencies which are more hearable on lower end systems.
a std sine wave pitched down for your low end sub and added harmonics on the mids and highs.
808 kicks are very important though as they have more low end on the kick.

i am having trouble finding the song i was listening to but, martyn -popgun maybe... scuba adrenaline, roska - leap frog, sbtrk - wildfire (that's more along the line of what i was looking for) it's like sub by with a layer i guess and a wobble

so with funky i don't really need to cut the low end on the 808 or carve it cause the bass is only playing in very specific times huh?

Re: uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
You`ll need to eq it to not clash with the sub bass or side chain it
But you want the low 808 thud combined with a good rhythmic sub bass line.
Not too complicated but still holding the listeners attention.

Re: uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
his bass is just filtered to give it the wump sound.
I`m not hearing much sub to be honest.
a fair amount of mid-range sort of wump wump with a filter opening occasionally.
slight bit of additional low end but not all sub really.
Bax comes across as more of a subby low end track with 808 kicks.
It`s all about how you filter the bass.

Re: uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
bax is really not a terribly complicated bass sound.
Just std sine wavs filtered to give it the full, warm, round side.
I use tone2 bifilter set on comb filter to get a warm sounding bass like the one on Bax.
He is just using chords to get a low and mid bass sound.

most bread n butter bass sounds can get you close with filtering, nothing complicated either.
Just filter and find your sound.

Re: uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
i kinda figured it out ... 3 oscillators
each at -24 , .24.90ish, -23,97 2 -3 square waves, maybe one of them sin -square , a low pass filter and some fx. if anyone can elaborate more that would be great.

do you know what kinda chords he is using... how does he use them? also do you know what the classic house keys sound is that i am hearing a lot. are people using samples or using a soft synth?

Re: uk funky / future dubstep bass creation
that`s a std softh synth stab.
bit of delay and editing the adsr to suite.
you can use a variety of synth lead sounds to produce that stab.
