Hey guys, I've been doing a lot of research on the origin of House music. What I've found thus far is that it originated in Chicago, and artist such as Frankie Nuckels and Hot Mix 5 were the pioneers. Is this true? What do you guys know about the origins of House music?

yeah i believe that is true. All I know is it started out DJs were spinning disco records and began snipping together their own edits that isolated the stripped down 4x4 section of tunes, and sometimes added their own 808s or 909s or whatever over that, well before they were making their own tunes.

If you're really interested in the history of House the Deep House Page has a lot of old mixes that you can download or stream.

I really like that Saturday Night mix by Bad Boy Bill, he was one of the WBMX DJ's.

Well looks like that download is very very slow.

Here's the mix on Mediafire.

Wow that tune came out in 82? It was ahead of its time to say the least!
