just depressing straight from the get go... i dont give a fuck about that kids mum, why am i supposed to care, all ive seen her do is lie in bed, cry, lie on the floor and cry, sit in hospital and cry. too many lingering shots too early on in a series trying to make me feel sad for people who i know fuck all about yet.
less time spent on people staring longingly into the distance please.
but yeah hope it goes somewhere.

yeah i agree, the characters arent the best.
feels to me like someone wanted a british "the wire" without really giving it enough thought!

Best thing about it is the Eno soundtrack, everything else is pretty weak - blatant steal of the Cutty/Dennis Wise character from The Wire, looks exactly the same as him plays exactly the same role.
Was expecting a lot more from this.

Are you 5 years old or have you just discovered that not all TV has a warm and cuddly voiceover explaining what's going on

Not really though is it, Cutty just got out of prison in The Wire and started a boxing club, the character in this works in a hospital and did a stint in the nick a few years ago and is helping out the son of a friend. Do you know how many guys in inner city areas fit that description...fucked around as kid, did a stint in prison, got out reformed and bulked up from training and decided a life of crime was behind them and wanna help the community, it's a very identifiable character, as are many of the characters in the programme.
