Is there an EQ VST that can

take frequency data from one track, and modify it on another?

Like a sidechain that effects specific frequencies based on the frequencies that are playing?

Say there is sine wave playing a melody, is there a VST that can track the frequency the sine is putting out and reduce another synth in the same range?

A sine wave is easiest to explain as it's only the one frequency, but with more complex sounds playing and a bigger frequency range being modified, this could be very useful.

sounds like a pain in the arse but why not take a sound & eq it to the leave frequency you want to effect???

then sidechain that ;)

you could chain your midi note data to reduce the frequencies according to the notes you play. example, you play c5 it cuts 523 hz on the track you specify.
fruity keyboard controler could send that data to parametric eq2. thats how i would do it. the results are not really mind blowing, depends how you use it.

sounds like your trying to layer two synths that just dont sit well together, try making a new synth which does go well over the top and you wont need to over complicate things

Nah man, just a thing I've been wondering about. I have no scenario as yet :P

That's exactly what a vocoder does

One way you can do this is do a prefader bus from the signal source to no output and slap a multiband compressor on the synth you want to sidechain it to that only lets through the frequency range you want.

This is just side chain compression for a specific frequency right?

If so then I would just split up the frequencies and then add a side chain compressor to the frequencies of your choice.
If you're not looking to compress the audio then just do the same thing but use a peak controller.

Duplicate the track you want to modify, flip the phase of the duplicated track and then isolate the problem frequency, then put a noise gate on that track sidechained to the track that is conflicting.

Check out dynamic eq.
You might also want to fuck around with vocoding and subtracting the resulting signal from the original.

comfi your in FL right?

open patcher, have it go like this.

"from fl studio" -> paraeq2 (cut out all freqs that you dont want to be the "sidechain trigger) -> peak controller -> "to fl studio"
(this way the peak controller will only trigger when those frequencies play)
then have one audio lane go straight from "from fl" to "to fl" to preserve the original audio. is that what your trying to do?

Very much so :) cheers for the link! Exactly what I was looking for, bring on the tinkering!

Totally gonna try some stuff with that!

Automation, maybe even get four synthesis and three instances of that running! Or 1 synth with different effects. Can't wait to get my teeth in, cheers again man

of course there is, its a De-Esser. You would just have to assign the sidechain input to whatever other track you want to duck it with, and adjust the frequency band from the typical sibilance zone up or down to whatever you prefer.

Alternatively i would just isolate the band you want to duck, and duck it on a dupe channel, while EQing out that band from the original that you wish not to duck.
