Okay okay, I, just like everyone else here, is so sick and tired of trying to explain to little band-wagon kids on youtube about real dubstep, fuck it, I give up... HOWEVER!
Maybe they DO know their roots. I honestly hate to say it,......but this tune is pretty decent.....

I'm honestly really feeling this tune. I now somewhat respect these dudes because they have made a song entitled '2005' referencing the "golden era" of dubstep. Though this is a very respectable tune, it's the ONLY respectable tune by these guys :/

meh... everything is just too plain and boring...
the lead synths are repetitive and obnoxious
the drums are repetitive and boring... nothing but kick on 1 and snare on 3 for the whole fucking song... same with the same hat/shaker rhythm throughout.
the bassline isn't necessarily bad, but it's a bit too quiet in the mix imo and doesn't really "punch"
honestly, it's kind of insulting to compare this to "2005 dubstep" because it was nowhere near this boring and static
now THIS is "2005" shit:

hate to jump on the hate train here but the drums don't have it.. and yes everything's too clean. I feel ironic saying that haha
i will say, however, the bass has plenty of punch on my end

Well I mean of course it's not as good as the old Loefah, Skream, and Distance tunes. But come on man, you gotta admit....
I mean this is EXCISION we're talking about here.....EXCISION. You have to admit this is pretty surprising coming from such generally shitty bandwagon dubstep prdocers.

it's not really surprising, excision wasn't always like he is now
i mean look at the tracklist from a mix he did back in 2006
it's not like he's not aware of the proper sound of dubstep, it's just that he willingly decided to go down the brostep path (and arguably kickstarted it with his releases in 2007). oddly enough this track is such a piss poor emulation of that era's sound...
it's like he can't even make proper dubstep when he tries to... and that's what i really find surprising, especially since he's obviously pretty technically skilled.

Holy shit! I had no idea he ever played tracks like those in his sets. Although I'm so quick to bash the guy that I would have never thought to look back at his older sets. Regardless, he's obviously in it for the commercialism and money/fame that comes along with riding a wave. But I had no idea he played stuff like that in older sets before, honestly, I didn't even know he was around back then.

Definitely. He was keen enough to notice that brostep was gonna be a big thing, and went with that...
And although I'm definitely not a fan, I've got to give thanks to the Excision of 2006, because it was that mix that I linked that got me into dubstep... All it took was that Ramadanman track and then Replicants, and I was hooked... forever.

ok ok ok... i might get killed for this. CAN ALL YOU JUST APPRECIATE SOMETHING?!?! My god, you guys are sooo ignorant towards the fact that dubstep came from IDM/Regge/2-Step/UK Garage/Experimental music, so why does it become a crime when anyone trys to take something a step further into the mists (including mainstream, because we all know it doesn't belong there) is it bad? Dubstep is being populated with assholes, shit producers, and yes... "brostepers" that still shuffle to electro house. Its embarrassing but think about what would happen if it never went that route. Imagine the Jimmy Page continued to do scuffle insted of Rock n Roll, Imagine if the Beatles never got popular or put out a record? Where the hell would we be? Everything needs progression within music, it is a must for it to continue for future possibility for originality. All you people that think you must listen to Old Dubstep to understand Dubstep, you are just ignorant aspects of close-minded individuals that will only become pigments of the trash you represent. I listen to Excision, i listen to Caspa, I listen to Distance, i listen to Skrillex (curse the name :O..... ) i listen to Eskimo, i listen to Rusko, i listen Skream, i listen to Benga, i listen to Koan Sound, i listen to almost everything... but i have the decency to listen to real music before shunning it to hell. I use to be just like you people... in 6th grade. So pardon me and GROW THE FUCK UP!!!
P.s They are not shit producers, you are a shit listener.

nobody's got a problem with evolution and changing things... we wouldn't be where we are without certain individuals deciding to do things differently and shaping the sound.
the problem is when the so called "progression" goes against some of the most fundamental aspects of the sound...
and i don't even know why you're so mad, nobody was really saying "oh my god this track is so fucking terrible"

tbh they're really good producers so you'd expect them to be able to create something like this. cant argue with their skills or whatever but i still cant stand almost all of their music

well they obviously had to get into dubstep from somewhere... being a couple of the ones pushing filth going forward, there wasn't as much of that to spin in those days prior to their own catalogues
that being said this tune undoubtedly sounds like a wannabe deep plate
the sub line is incredible, all the other sounds are kinda wack

People talk about brostep bandwagoning but fuck none of you guys came up with dubstep all by yourself. You prolly heard Midnight Request Line, Night, Swagga, or some other mainstream song as your first intro into the music and then went on further to buy and (assumedly) try to make dubstep. Doesn't that make you a bandwagoner? This is music guys; it's all bandwagoning unless you've been living in a cave making music all by yourself

Ok i understand you... but what would happen if the so called "fundamental aspects of the sound" were argued that dubstep is nothing more then loud low subbass with a 140 bpm with abstract atmosphere and drumbeat? It is contradicting the dubstep sound by saying its not dubstep... the same way people in general say that dubstep is not music! The whole fact that dubstep began by going against the "fundamental aspects... of sound" to the rest of the world's people (or music theory in some cases) is what made it become what it was. Now time has once more moved the genre into a new thought of sound, where the fundamentals brought forth back in its early eras. People like skream are no more revolutionary than skrillex for that matter.
And for the record, im mad because i started listening to dubstep just as long ago as any of you dubstep purists, but now im faced with the reallity that hipsters and assholes are trying to make dubstep into some kind of trending topic on twitter or some shit. I dislike treads because it ruins the soul of music and thats the first reason i even continued to listen to it... because dubstep still has its soul as a unadulterated onsault of bass when at times it can also be blissfully transcending as the sounds grow. People that say highs and mids in dubstep are against the rules are only showing the open contradictions that are being stated. Dubstep is awesome in every way, so why do its own listeners go against the grain of what the fundamentals are? I am tried of hearing you wieners say "New Dubstep isnt even dubstep"

EXit_music wrote:I am tried of hearing you wieners say "New Dubstep isnt even dubstep"
That's the thing though. It ISN'T dubstep. For example:
Whenever somethings evolution causes it to deviate so far from its original source, it typically goes on to be called something different. For instance, rock music was created from the fusion of jazz, beach music, and blues. Each of the aforementioned geners contributed some aspects to the formation rock music, but we don't still call rock music "jazz" or "blues" do we? No. It has deviated so far from its source that it needs to be called something of its own. Same thing with dubstep. Brostep should not be considered dubstep because the only constant similarity that doesn't change is the tempo.
I parallel the relation of brostep to dubstep with blues to heavy metal. "Blues" and "heavy metal" are two distinct genres with distinct artist and both terms are widely known and accepted with no grey area as to the difference between them. Whereas many people use the term "dubstep" to refer to the genre in it's entirety. Unfortunately this is very ambiguous because the new sound is so drastically different than the old sound and many new comers to the scene only know of skrillex, excision, etc. Thus, when people hear the word "dubstep" they don't realize what dubstep actually is and what lies beneath the surface of commercialized, watered down, bullshit tunes for the masses.
It's frustrating to see that the newer dubstep has deviated so far from its root sound, but is still referred to as "dubstep." This social decorum regarding dubstep causes a lot of confusion and ambiguity and therefor causes the more original, minimal, deep sound to be overlooked.
