Don't just choose two kicks that you think sound nice, think about what you are going to keep from them, and what sort of freqs you would like to add to it with the other kick, make sure you use your eq well.

Best advice on drums ever, use good samples.
I usually just end up grabbing four kicks that sound coherent together. and then literlaly stack the hits in the sequence. Then i mix the levels until im satisfied.
I know other guys will use eq's and gates to help isolate the different parts of each sample, then they will compress the two together to "glue it back together".
I like to kept it stupid simple so i jsut use gain/levels to mix the sample to taste but its up to you really.
These days people love to hate Vengeance samples, i like them but they get hated on lol.
Or goldbaby i think makes other packs athat are "good" samples.
Hope some of that helps, i feel like theres a section in the dubstep guide in the stickies about this too.

get more kicks/drumz, i rarely need to layer anymore if i do its for a specific effect or sound i want out of them not so much for getting them sounding right/big in the first place. IMO

if u like the sound on it's own then whats the point in layering? there is no set route to getting anywhere in production, sometimes layering up some sounds can make something cool, sometimes you don't need to. good drums are more about dynamic processing and how they fit into the mix down. and
rhythm

pick good sounding samples for different reasons, the attack, overall bassiness, length etc.
layer them together, eq the parts you want to keep of each kick, compress them to fit, run through a saturator subtly
