Im looking at investing in some new software. I'm not stacked with bills so i'm only considering buying one piece of equipment but i have no idea what that should be.

Here are a few things i'm looking at:

Fabfilter products:

-Pro-Q
-Pro-C
-Volcano 2
-Twin 2
-Timeless 2

Native Instruments:
-Komplete 8

Spectrasonics:
-Omnisphere Synth

I have downloaded the trial version of all the FabFilter products (exception of Twin) and i loved them, but Omnisphere's screenshots on zzsounds looks unbelievable. If anyone here has any experience with these products, positive or negative let me know. Opinions are gold here as well.

I haven't used Omnisphere, but you won't regret either the NI or Fabfilter purchase, whichever you go with.

The difference is what you're getting, so you should think about what you're lacking or what you would get more use out of; Komplete is a bunch of synths and instruments, a sampler, a drum sampler, and loads of sounds/sample libraries, and the Fabfilter one is a bunch of effects and a great synth.

Personally, if I had the Fabfilter bundle, I would use everything in there, whereas I probably wouldn't be loading up things like Absynth all that much...but Kontakt and Battery are essential pieces of software for me.

So yeah, you can't go wrong with either, but I would just the one that you would use more.

i use omni every day its amazing for all kinds of sounds but not always the best for building patches.. u can do whatever u need to, but the feel is just kind of weird .. imo best for its huge preset banks and the sound quality is unrivaled in software. Also one instance of it can hold up to ten patches with individual MIDI channels, or in stack mode you can automatically link up to ten patches to the same MIDI for layering.

its like if you want to reach for a pad, you have hundreds of not just pads, but beautiful pads. and the sample sources they are made with.. i mean u can make a hell of a patch yourself with it but it isn't exactly Massive for ease of programming.

But you really can't go wrong with Komplete. Omnisphere doesn't strike me as a good first synth so it depends what you already have. Komplete will set you up with a lot of important tools. And pretty much industry standard in quality.

As of right now im leaning towards Komplete 8. Looking through all included items now. Only thing that's getting in the way of the decision is the Fabfilter products, which i know based on experience have incredable EQs and Compressors, IMO you can't beat their filters with anything either.

Omnisphere is fantastic but I`d most likely get Komplete 8 because of all the tools you get.

Komplete. U can follow up with nice filters later but u need Komplete.. you get Guitar Rig which has great mixing tools which include multiple pretty good filters as well. And you can freely add modulators to them.

Another vote for Komplete.

All products are great although Omnisphere doesn't really appeal to me personally. The FabFilter stuff is awesome and is a great addition to any studio but Komplete supplies you with a life times worth of creativity, I think it will the package which you will get the most satisfaction from.

I'm going to take everyones advice on this one. Buying Komplete 8 is about just as expensive as if i were to buy all the Fabfilter items i listed, maybe even cheaper. And since Komplete comes with at least 3 times the equipment, 90% of which seem usefull to me, i defintely feel that this decision would be the smartest.

by the way the Razor ensemble is only $75 so that's like adding another cool synth to your roster and it has great controls for building patches that kick ass. good luck

They are all great...To my ears anyway Omni is th fattest soft synth that I've ever heard. Maybe it's not got all the modulation options, but that's what your sampler is for.

The FF stuff is great too! I use Pro-Q all the time, it's a fantastic EQ.

You just can't go wrong with Komplete either - All those quality instruments for that price. Also as op said, Razor is another great option that can be added later.
