Getting famous - how does it exactly work? D:

Post by invictus » Mon Nov 14, 2011 4:51 pm

Hey

I just wanted to make a few things clear to myself so I have a couple questions.
When you have a few good tunes, you send it as a demo to a label? What does label exactly do if they agree to work with you?
What are your rights etc.?
you can laugh at me, but I really wanna know how this thing looks like XD

and thanks for help ;)
Wanna talk about music, production etc?

first of all, if u are true to the game, u wont care about becoming "famous", its just a positive/negative depending on ur outlook on life- to making music.

the main idea is that u start from nothing and slowly build up a following by producing consistently innovating tracks. then one of those followers might be a label manager etc, u get signed- if u are good enough and slowly build up ur reputation from there, its not rocket science, but involves a lot of time and effort and is to certain extent based around luck/who listens to ur music, for some it could take years andfor others just months. just depends on how set u are on producing music....but a plan to guide u through ur endevors is not a bad idea. to a certain extent its a waiting game.

I see. I know it takes a lot of time and real hard work. However, there comes this moment, when you decide you want to produce and be known for it, you want to do it for people that follow your work and the record label is to help you out with that, right? What's exactly their work? Do they promote your tunes and basically make room in music history for your productions?

my label does jack shit promotion, they just distribute the music to stores. u never want to be "known" it would be nice however, if more people took notice of what ur tryign to achieve, no one likes to be scumming it out at the bottom, but it has to be done either way.

Rarely dubstep producers get famous, they get well known and all that, but I think above all a track will be more famous than the producer, if the producer keeps making bangers then people will start to associate him/her with making beast music (Burial, SP:MC, Distance - to name a very small few). Which is almost the same as being famous but with 100% less cock smoking.
