I guarantee you that they could push a shit-ton of units if they just sold it at the normal price for a 12"

Exactly. Stratergy for what? They'd be able to sell out a sensible sized pressing even at £10.99 a pop. Because people want this 12".
Though I imagine someone will be quick to argue it's not about the money or whatever.
