So whose done it? Fucking hell everyone must have.

I guess with the genre and the scene theres this attitude which is great that everyone just mingles with everyone. This probably doesnt happen everywhere but a fair few places it does. dmz leeds is a major one for me personally.

The smoking area seems to be the place where people notice producers and you see people trying to talk to them. I guess this thought of going over and talking to them is on everyones mind but you just dont wanna look like a mug and sound so far up their arse...

Now i've made a fool of myself before hand (usually when im on-it.. In fact only when im on-it) and i'm sure im not the only one. Asking questions and praising them for their work/set. When I see someone now I tend to just notice or point him/her out to people im with. I mean yes these people are those a lot of us respect and its great they mingle but i guess it must get tiring everyone coming up to them and going "nice set mate? whens that tune out?"

Anyone got any mad stories to tell about meeting producers out? Any producers who post on here got any thoughts on people coming up to them and chatting to them? I could see why it would piss you off but after all we have some of our utmost respect for you.

was at a Kryptic Minds night a few weeks ago and met Benton in the smoking shelter, was pretty sick

edit: I didn't do any of the 'I love you man' crap, it was mainly my mate chatting to him. He was just a normal guy.

I met Skream at Bloc last year, I was buying a pint and then heard some dude next to me ringing a bell and it turned out to be Skream, that was a lot sicker cos I seriously respect Skream so was pretty much like

I bumped into Mala 4 times in 3 different cities and every time we had a nice little chat.

I've done it a few times but everytime I've been far too fucked and probably came across as a bellend.... It is funny to actually see them as real people rather than as a picture online or a faceless producer etc

Talking to people at a dubstep night I don't do.

Shook High Contrast's hand at a Daedelus show once.

He just looked a bit like, "why are you shaking my hand".

Made a drunken fool out of myself in front of loefah. Headhunter mistook me for being skream which followed with an awkward conversation. Spent an evening hanging with benga on his 18th bday - such an awesome and unexpected night.

Jamie Vex'd is sound, Scratchy is a friendly nutter. D1, Benga and Poax have started chatting up girlfriends of mine at one time or another.

And I didn't meet him but before Zomby was a big name he owed me £20 for about 6 months....he was good for it in the end though.

The thing I got from meeting them and others is that it was almost always the friendliest people that went on to bigger things. I gave out a load of free CDs in about 2006 and only got about 6 emails back from people thanking me/feedback, all of them went on to be big in dubstep. Its the people out to be seen that think they're cool that are the unfriendly ones, anyone really into the music is usually sound.

edit: Not really talked with any dubstep producers, big upped Mala when he was over here and that's about it. I had a decent chat with Kevin Saunderson a few years back, that was sick. Shook Sasha's hand as well once.

I've had a couple of moments with producers

I've had a joint or 2 with Sukh Knight and a good chat with 2 of my mates for about an hour after a rather disappointing turn out in Huddersfield. We were just talking about anything and everything it was pretty sweet. Wouldnt come for some sort of smoke up after sesh tho :/

I saw Zomby's face on Friday after his set at WHP. Yes that's not meeting him but it was a bit of a strange moment to see someone who keeps himself a secret out for all to see..

Pokes tried charging me (jokily) £10 for the setlist at DMZ's 6th bash. He tried to start a bidding war with other people in the corridor

I shook Mala's hand once and thanked him for playing vinyl. He seemed to appreciate that.
Also gave Phaeleh a tap on the shoulder and gave him a 'wicked set bruv'-knod haha.

bens a wicked bloke, him and unitz are probably the only producers i know, spoken to a fair few others (little chats) at nights before quite a few times though.

yeh I've had some of these....
bumped into mala both in manchester + leeds when i was with my mate, had a chat about music
also had a quick word with sgt pokes in the smoking area of LWIC
had a fairly lengthy convo with heny G in manchester also after his set at Hit 'n' Run

My mate ended up sitting next to Biome for 4 hours on the coach from Venice to Pula this year at Outlook. I guess if your gonna talk to a producer that was the time haha! He is a big fan too so he must of been buzzing. Biome ended up on my flight home too but was sat no where near me...

I'd just like to say Appleblim is geuinely one of the friendliest dudes I've ever met. Sick DJ too.
