Warehouse Project - Manchester

Post by Juice Terry » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:20 pm

I'm off there this Saturday for the R&S night, line up is quality... I was just wondering if anyone has been to any of the events there yet and if someone could tell me what the sound set up is like and also what the security is like for smoking... :E:

Cheers...

I've been twice this year smoked afew J's and had no problems!!
Sound's ok, I can't help but compare a soundsytem to Liverpools Masque though and for me it's not in the same league. (still a sick sick night at WHP though!!)
Does anyone know what soundsystem the Masque uses, I swear I've never been anywhere else with sub-bass like that, then again, I haven't been to a whole lot of venues like that so

Its an incredible venue, i live across the road so go most weekends. People smoke all the time there, you're probably more likely to piss someone off standing next to you than get spotted by security. The security at the front just tell you to put it out if you're seen. The security at the entrance are mostly arseholes though, i get searched everytime and properly searched not just a pat down.. they just seem to hate everybody and their life in general. Once me and my mate (so he thought) got called over to be searched and the guy went to my mate "not you fuck off". It also says 'we refuse entry to anybody who has drank alcohol', so i'm always cautious not to get too fucked up before going in.

Also headed there for the R&S records, looking forward to it.
Its a pretty big venue, converted underground carpark. There's usually two rooms. Bar is pretty expensive cans of red stripe are like £4 or something. Good night though,
security seems pretty relaxed to be honest you'll be fine. Sound is pretty standard nothing special.

Nice one lads, thanks for the info...

Really looking forward to Saturday now, but there was no way in the world I wanted to see Mount Kimbie live without a j... :R:

The line up is well decent imo:

JAMES BLAKE — LIVE
MOUNT KIMBIE — LIVE
ANDREW WEATHERALL
OPTIMO ESPACIO
SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER
JAMES BLAKE — DJ SET
PARIAH
VONDELPARK — LIVE
CLOUD BOAT — LIVE
UNTOLD
BLAWAN
LONE
THE CHAIN

I'm really interested in when and where they're going to put the live acts. I've never seen Vondelpark, but have seen all of the other live acts and they're not exactly banging, so you probably wouldn't want to put them in the main room at peak time...

It's a wicked venue, also going this Saturday, back room is the best, last year I saw Actress, Kimbie, Blake, Zomby, JamieXX & Nathan Fake in there, was ridiculous.

They'll probably clash people who they really shouldn't clash but whatever, just nip between rooms.

They sell Bud66 cans for £3 usually but everything's pretty expensive, and yeah, just smoke inside as getting to the smoking area is long haha.

WHP are saying that Mount Kimbie are on at 11 on their Facebook...

TBH, I'll hit it reasonably early anyway, there's no point in going all that way and missing anyone...

Buzzing for it now. :corndance:

Yeah I just got a text from Ticketline saying Kimbie were on at 11 with Blake straight after so guessing it's all changed...

Pretty shit really as I hate having to find out & write times into my phone at the venue, so much easier knowing beforehand.

I rate they'll have all the live bands on first then. I always try to get to WHP early as poss anyhow to avoid longing it out in the queue.

Pariah has posted the above set times on his Facebook. I'm guessing the texts, emails and Facebook update are just a case of WHP wanting people in early to spend at the bar...

As it happens, I'm ok with that

WHP really need to release set times before on their fb or something. Kimbie on at 11 is the first time i've ever seen them mention a set time, i remember going to see SBTRKT and he was the only one i really wanted to see... got there half 11 and he was already half hour into his set.

probably because its mostly full of student stnuc brocking out, we went to see the bug a couple of years ago and got there late just for the end of his set just as the drum and bass was coming on (crap stuff not decent) and it was hellish. Been there other times for luke vibert and that and it was amazing, the lineup totally dictates who is in there but that goes without saying really.

I wouldn't say its mostly full of student stnuc, i've never had any trouble or seen any trouble in there... which can't be said for going out on a normal night in town on a friday/saturday. My point is if you hate being around and interacting with young people who are likely to be drunk and maybe more.. you're in the wrong fucking line of work being a bouncer for somewhere like the warehouse project. I'd hate to be dealing with those people all night as well, but knowing i'd hate it i wouldn't purposely make an effort to get into that line of work.
