a real feminist moment..

You guys seem interested in the sexism thing...
and I have a real example...

Whenever there is something going on - like a music movement...
Girls are always waiting to see who's gonna be the first female to break in
and how they are going to do it etc...
it's like being invested because they represent" you" in a way

well the first formal sort of studio mix cd here in the states (that i knew of) by a junglist girl
was set to be empress...
so I was in there with support- ordered a copy and didn't really think about it
until I openned the package and got punched squarely in the face...

I guess I was expecting something like this..

or

so when I saw this...I just thought -my hand jacking invisible cock onto her face...

now I didn't run to scuba right away or who ever - to cry that my pussy hurt...
because that kind of stuff is everyday for girls...everyday being a massive understatement

and the mix itself is very good - I thorougly enjoyed it..some very upfront tech step

But the image just did not match the music at all..nor was it creative

It just showed me that women - even in what I considered to be my own scene were still ok with...
what - exploiting their looks...

not just failing to be creative - but putting the izan pretty girl panty shackles right back on.

shortly after that - reid speed came out with resonance which was a little better...
because at least she was looking real and in front of a dirty piece of architecture..

no seriously..when I first SAW/SEEN the cd I thought...

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS STUPID HO TRYING TO DO

that was my first reaction to the girl cd - that was representing me

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS STUPID HO TRYING TO DO

those were the exact words that went through my head

maybe the whole - I am every woman thing - is also symptomatic

so I made a mixed cd called Playing with Myself

and put a closeup shot of between a girls legs while she is fingering herself..
and ran it through a bubblegum filter..

Who needs tits when your hair is that HUGE

I dunno who empress is but if I saw this CD in the shop I'd assume it was pop/rnb. Maybe that's what they were going for. This older one looked similar, except it said DRUM & BASS in a huge font: http://www.discogs.com/Empress-Statesid ... ase/208471

makes sense, I beat women to upfront tech step

nah, that's it...2002 - is really late for drum and bass...even here in the states

the scene had actually started to wither @96-97
the tech step started to get really dark in a bro way...as did the parties

don't get me wrong - there were still some really excellent labels and releases..
subtitles-black sun empire etc

but as far as scene momentum...the electroclash/new rave stuff did it in...

my options were klaxons or dubstep...not a difficult choice

So because she was born pretty and decided to have a flattering photo of herself on her album cover (like a lot of men do) instead of a twee cartoon like a "normal" girl hiding her sexuality under a burkha, you hate her?

You need help.

What was the music like?
