Any tips on adding drums into a super deep atmospheric tune?
every time i try the drums turn out sounding so synthetic or unreal..

Example: Soundcloud
I know it's my own song but I'm at a loss...
There is some percussion in there already but thats also pretty much atmospheric noises too. :|

use like breaks or real drums samples? or record ourself hitting some real things? try and play the beat out so that it doesnt sound as sequenced. add a suitable reverb to the drums too, you might not want them to sound too dry, that could make them sound synthetic if they dont fit with the space of your track.

Organic sounding samples maybe?
I mean go like to hell and back sample hunting; If I feel my drums are to into the cheeze department.
Other than that maybe a two-step or garage beat?
Or maybe no beat at all and have instrumental like percussive elements?

You could try glitching them up, or using glitchy loops, also use filters and LFOs on them too

Hand program them, no quantizing. Reverb on the snare. Not TOO MUCH drums, ever. With an atmospheric tune you want to keep the drums as subtle as possibly, in my opinion.

This.

Also chopping up breaks to get the hits you need will give the drums a more natural feel. Dont over eq the chopped up break either, as this removes the character that you liked in teh first place.

transient shaper to ease the soften the drums and turn your dry mix down on the reverb plugin.

alternatives include just using a pre fader on your drum track :)

I would try to find a jazz kit with brush hits (or samples of a jazz kit). 8)

Rims > snares in atmospheric dubstep tunes IMHO. And wood hits, what ever you have that is wood hit it with something else wood and record (even your cell phone will work to record). Transient designer to taste. Also, a bus with a short reverb followed by a rhythmic delay (automation for bonus points).
