This is the deal, in about a month santas gunna hook me up with some real decent stuff and i was wondering what makes the kaoss pad3 so much better than the kp2. Santa doesnt have enough money to pay for the elves to make the kp3 so if i want that im gunna have to sly him some money.
Im gunna be using it for production/DJing and im not really bothered about the sampler, more just the effects.
Thoughts?.....and donations...

if your not fussed about the sampling functions then you may aswell get the korg quad effects pad =] same touch screen interface etc but its dedicated to effects, nifty piece of kit i reckon.

That Quad is the next in the lineage of Kaoss Pads and it's quite a bit more expensive than a KP3.

I have before, and it was a laugh. I had fun. There is a lot you can do with it.
I have a KP2 by the way. A KP3 would be cool, but whenever I did have that kind of dosh, I would spend it on something else that was more urgent. With that said, I have gotten a lot of mileage out of my Kaoss Pad. They are not for everyone, but if you are into very tactile control surfaces that you can play like an instrument, you'll like it.
As far as the differences between a KP3 and a KP2, I know that they made quite a few improvements on the KP3. I believe there are more effects, a lot more sample time, usb support, and fx release level slider etc.
The KP2 is still quite usable though.

So its not really worth getting for use with decks? More of a novelty that runs out quick?

That's not what I said at all. It depends on the creative mind and ability of the user. It can be used as an instrument.

i have 4 kaoss pads, i've had almost all of them. by far the kp3 is the best, as a sampler it has loads of amazing settings to effect the sample. trust the 200 bucks you spend on the kp3 will be the best investment you've ever made.
