Inspiration and Improvisation, how to start a masterpiece.

I want to hear what you guys do/did to start off one of your best songs. Just some info on what gets you amped up and ready to go. As well as where you start your music, weather its that sick bass line or a simple drum beat to wrap your music around.
For me its a 20oz Redbull, some herbs, and 3 hours to myself. Depending on how i am feeling ill start with the drum beat (if im looking to construct a whole song), Bassline (if im trying to work on sound creation), or synth leads (just messing around with my midi)
