Just wondering, (I don't know if this is the right category for this but anyway), just wondering what colleges or online school's you guys think are the best for learning how to produce dubstep/DnB/Drumstep. I live in Wisconsin so probably not a whole lot of good colleges close by but I was just curious if you guys know about any that I may have overlooked.

Yeah I've watched many tutorials and read alot of manuals and I make alright songs that aren't anything special. I just feel like I have alot of missing spots in my knowledge of how to produce music well. Yeah i've heard of dubspot, I've been looking into them and pointblankonline, not sure which one is better.

I mean, find schools that do audio engineering or production. Clive Davis school @ NYU is good and well connected, so is the production program @ Berklee. Also, there are tons of awesome audio engineering and electronic music programs, Cal Arts, UMiami off the top of my head.

Without wanting to sound harsh, it seems that if you can't learn what you need to from free tutorials/online guides what you lack is either creativity or, more than likely, talent. Second, don't you think its kind of foolish to spend or erroneously 'invest' 100's if not 1000's of dollars/resources/time only to rely on what someone furthest detached from the Market (university/college) thinks of your production skills only to later create what you will more than likely end up giving away on soundcloud or at most have for sale on bandcamp for less than $1 (which is still before expenses).

The best case scenario I can see is he/she sets you up and grades you against a Skrillex type or some other worthless garbage, in which case you are better off spending your time at home fucking around with programs and posting your progress on youtube in 'hopes' someone likes you to eventually one day build up a clientele... at least then you aren't entirely wasting your time.

I don't know for this as an absolute fact, but if you asked most of the heads in the community what their 'academic credentials' are they'll probably laugh in your face and point to the countless amounts of unfinished dubs they made at home/studio, because from what I can tell Kode9 is the only academic.

yea that's a really good point... I'm really new at this so I probably am just getting impatient and wanting to be good right away.
