Okay, so after 15 years of daily smoking and 5 failed attempts to give up I have finally decided that enough is enough.

Date for giving up is Monday 19th Dec 2011. No cutting down, no fucking about Im just going to stop......

Ive deleted my dealers numbers, instructed my mates not to offer me spliffs or come round with weed.

Does ANYONE have any more tips for success? Anyone sucessfully given up and have any experiences to share that I might find useful?

Im reaching out here fellas, dont leave me hanging

well, what is your reason for quitting first? always keep that in mind when considering smoking again, if you have a valid reason it makes it so much easier

this is solid advice... also your plan of deleting all dealers numbers and making sure your friends don't offer you weed will be a huge help too, trying to quit when all your friends are smoking around you is so much more difficult

1 - The weed around here is expensive and shit quality
2 - Ive started to get a wheezing noise when I breathe out fast
3 - Im starting to panic like a pussy when I cant get any weed and I hate not being in control like that.
4 - I dont actually enjoy it anymore

I tried to quit smoking a few months ago because i was getting lazy with my daily actions such as studying and get up early to going to work.

But then i realized that its very very very difficult especially if there is such good quality and cheap.

So i prefer stop smoking when i have a good reason

If you stick to it, at the end of the month you will see a huge difference in how much money you have to spend on other things such as records or clothing.

I've been at a point in my life for a while where I'm fully in control of my weed habit, and it feelsgoodman.

I found the first couple days are hard as fuck, and then the desire just keeps going down. I started getting the feeling that I preferred being lucid to stoned, but was stuck in the habit.

I think that weed actually muffled all my senses and experiences, rather than the other way round - hell, I hardly even remember big chunks from that period of my life. I want to absorb 100% of what's going on around me, and not have anything there to distort it. I lose social skills when I'm high as fuck, and don't take on experiences that I normally would, because I get paranoid, or lazy, etc, etc, etc.

When the time's right, nothing's better than a fat spliff with my missus, chilling out and playing Xbox. I know for some people it's the exact opposite, but I started to feel like being stoned was just watering down my life.

Good luck main.

collect all the money you would spend on draw and stash it. you'll see another motive soon enough. then buy yourself something as a reward

Here's a nice inspirational story for you:

This one time, I decided to smoke weed,
and it felt great.

Actually, that happened multiple times.

Wait...

The name of the game is tolerance breaks man. Once your streak gets too long it's not as nice. Just take breaks off, or keep it to weekends. When you burn again it'll be like when you were 14. :corndance:

I gave it up about 3/4 years ago, best thing I ever did.

Reasons aren't hard to find (presuming you smoke it daily).

You'll feel a million times better when not smoking it. You'll get shit done, you'll go out more, and quitting it is the equivalent to a £3,000-£4,000 payrise.

What kind of prices are you guys paying??
Sounds ridiculous.

I stopped smoking at the end of September. Just stopped, didn't bother me. I still have a few grams in my safe and I see/smell it every time I get money out. There's much harder drugs in there too lol. I just never had a problem with stopping or taking breaks I guess. I stop smoking every few months just to do it, no real reasons, but weed makes me concentrate a bit too much and I focus way too hard on meaningless details. That gets tiring. Otherwise I smoked every day or every other day.

I think the "ritual" is far more addicting than the weed itself tbh. I don't have a problem with people smoking around me, but one friend will harass me and call me all kinds of names to try to force me to smoke, he's a bit of a dick.

i gave up due to medical reasons, but after giving up and cutting it all out, you actually look at people (friends) and realise how dependent they are on it, and how boring they are when they smoke it.

I'm fucking glad im not a lick'ed anymore, much more happier without it.
