I live in an apartment and have to do a lot of production at night. The headphones I have are crap, so I'm looking to purchase some new ones...Wondering if anybody has any suggestions on which brand/model would be best and most sonically accurate plus good bass response. Price isn't a huge concern right now cuz I just came up on some cash....

Those are all very decent cans that'll see you through for a very long time. Top quality shit.

And if you can't stretch for a budget like that be sure to check out the Sony MDR XB500. I have a pair of these for when I have to deal with lows and It's not practical to have loud music playing, the extra low bass response on the 40mm drivers makes it surprisingly easy to deal with lows, lows you usually can't hear at all with cans, I'm talking sub bass, these go down to 4Hz! (Its why I got them) so for the buck (about £50) these are actually very nice, you do have a trade off with highs though as the low end tends to push them back slightly in bass heavy bits, reference materials sorts that out though. I have a different pair (Beringers) to deal with highs which helps too lol, shit low end but really nice tops.

AKG K240 swear by them. THE RESPONSE IS SO CLEAN. subs are absolutely noticeable.

I have a quick question. I have the SHURE SRH440 and it works fine.

But is there an advantage to having these 3-400 dollar headphones with wide frequency ranges when you can't even here below 20Hz to begin with?

i producer with them 100% at the moment and although it isn't ideal, it's still better than using similar priced monitors. if you still have monitors your mixes will improve tenfold.

I currently use Sennheiser HD280 Pros. Hoping for some Shure SRH940's as my next upgrade.

All the shure headphones I tested when I was buying headphones we're really overhyped on the high end. almost painful. It was almost unpleasant to listen to them. Save a little longer and go with the HD600-650s and you wont have to upgrade again. You can get them for 300ish on Amazon. Just be patient and get the right thing instead of something that you're just going to have to upgrade again.

Then you definitely want open backed headphones. Closed back headphones give you an unrealistic listening and monitoring environment and your headphone to monitor transition will be confusing as hell.
