You have to tune your drums to the key of your bassline, and cut out all the clashing frequencies 40hz for the sub, 80hz for the kick, 200hz for the snare, 20khz for the bassline. then compress each channel, and each buss, then the master. Then sidechain the alpaca 2 the midi, and use 3 ham vst, and 1 sausage thinner vst, and 4 digital warmer. Thats what I read on the interwebz anywayz.

I just use my ears, and make them work together/against each other how I like.

idk, just gotta have an ear for it i guess. i like to have something hit at the beginning of each strong note and if you can keep a good grove with your bassline your beat will follow

Make sure the bass stands on its own, the beat too. Then try to get them to compliment each other, listen to the beat and get a groove from it and try to expand that groove with the bassline.

Play your bass slightly behind the beat.
Tweak the AMP ENV on the bass to help things mesh/flow better.

amp envelope, its on every synth as the global envelope. it controls the power of the signal. you tweak it by automating usually the attack of the ASDR envelope. a higher attack means it will take longer for the amp to deliver full power so its like your slowly turning up the bass. with a short attack there will be full power straight away.

but i know the stage you are at and your better off just making music however you can right now and don't worry too much about the technicalities of it until you get the terminology down and some basic knowledge/skill. read a ton, watch a ton of tutorials, and practice more. it can take months, years, even decades to get good so don't get impatient.

I'd say clean up your kick around 40~65hz so it can fit the sub, same to the main bassline. Make some room for the snare by drawing a small fissure on the EQ around 200~250hz and yeah, musicianship et coetera.

watch all 5 parts and then watch the melody and bass one and then start posting again under another account.

edit: for realz ive taken theory for three semesters (seems like 3 years) and I actually had my mind blown when they played that last song at the end with the sequenced lights. 8)
