Canada is amazing

Post by amick » Mon Dec 26, 2011 8:50 am

Been here for two weeks just outside of Toronto and love it here. Been to a few underground Hip Hop gigs and the people, food and drink here is kick ass. Being a tourist on my second visit here has been excellent.

Anyone else recommend some things to do/see in Toronto and/or Ontario area as i'm here for two more weeks? Want to do some outdoor things too...

Cheers.

nope. It's not the same, trust.

It must be some sort of special gravy, I've also never seen cheese curds in the UK. Completely different without the same gravy n cheese maaan

There's this place in the city that I used to run to on lunch that had the best chicken poutine ever. You get a big ass platter, about a square foot, loads of cheese and crispy chicken, all for like 6 bucks. It was actual work trying to finish it off.

New York Fries is awesome too but I'd rather just get regular fries and load them with cajun spice.

I can't believe no one makes poutine in merica. You can still make the greezy home brew edition, grab some spicy fries, marble or mozza cheese, some good gravy. Boom delicious time. It's in the same food family as nachos and the hot turkey sandwich (which I just ate mmmm)

Cheese on potatoes + gravy? That's something you don't see a chef do every day :D

I had a family restaurant for a few years in the southwest and I put poutine on the menu along with donairs. We already did gyros so it was easy enough. No one knew what they were but they tried and loved them. Used cheese curds but I also experimented with using paneer which worked well. Had quite a few Canadians about over the years that tried them and said it was real good if a bit different. I did put my own spin on them with spices and such, and the donair sauce and brown gravy was homemade.

Other than that and of course Canada, it's around in the very northern states, but I've never seen it on fast food menus like some places in Canada has (KFC, Mcdonalds etc).
