Has anyone heard that insanely huge sub bass on 16-Bits' song 'FRZR9000'.

Anyone know how the HELL did he accomplish a sub bass THAT LOUD without destroying or making the other instruments volumes phase out completely???

I hear nothing special... Typical doctor p formant-osc-roughmath screech with a sine wave under it... The sine wave can be so loud because EVERYTHING else in that song is like >500hz

I don't understand what people mean by "under" things.

Is sound really THAT versatile that you can put something under it..? Or do you mean side chaining where it phases volumes in and out switching back and forth like Trance music....?

I'd like some instructions on Massive to do this please so I can better understand what people mean by like.. "Put a sub under it at 80hz" and etc....
Because when I look for the things I need to know I keep hearing terms I don't know at all which makes it even harder for me to understand.

I pretty much either need:

Step by step instructions, demonstrating it.
or a visual of the demonstration.

dont think about it too hard. with subbass, imagine the Rerwwowowooww BZZZZZZZ sounds as a blanket. the sub is the bed. the bed goes under the blankets

just think of it as playing a sound at the same time as another sound. they make sweet love & sound good together

Thats not a sub bass. Its a midrange bitcrusher sound. EQ out everything under like 110hz and replace it with a sub.

A sub bass is generally a sine wave.

hz is frequency. google it. we could be here for years explaining this to you.

When you say it like that most people on here should be at the top !

I don't think its as simple as that at all, 16bit uses a lot of strange methods for his synthesis, including live recordings of power tools etc (showcased in chainsaw calligraphy). I suggest getting a powerful saw/formant combo (i.e lots of classic drive and sine shaper) the roughmath waveform will probably be good for this cut out any frequencies below like 100-120hz. Eq this, usually cutting a thin-ish slice around 500hz is good for this sorta sound. Resample on a really nice sounding note, duplicate the track to say three different tracks, compress all of them using different types of compression each time (gives a much wider sound), distort them lightly, if you have logic, overdrive or bitcrusher with no downsampling is great for this also if you have a multiband disortion plug, distorting a the high frequencies lots on one track works well, also it is advisable to EQ them separately again and bring out any frequencies that you think are starting to define the sound and sound reall nice and tight, don't do the same on each track though as your going to start peaking loads. After this use a stereo spreader or similar on one track and try to fill as much of the stereo as possible, get all the tracks to a suitable level that isn't peaking and bounce them off. It might be useful at this stage to make yourself a sub so you can start to tell how its gonna sound with everything put together, 16bit uses razor for his sub, but a simple sine will do make sure its in mono if you didn't already know, the stereo sub frequencies will conflict with each other and it just sounds like a bit of a mess, cut everything above whatever you cut below on your main synth. From there, you can compress it, process your sub, distort everything a little bit more, distort little bits each time though there isn't just one plug thats gonna insta-16bit your sound. This is what I did when I was trying to recreate the sound, sounded pretty close

this patch in massive kinda sounds close http://www17.zippyshare.com/v/29109355/file.html you could get that sort of offbeat wub with the "frequency shifter" insert in massive just pick any patch that is a stab, turn up the dry/wet and lower the pitch all the way in the insert and just play a lownote

Can you direct me in FL Studio exactly how and where I can "Cut out frequencies"....?
I know what frequencies are, someone told me they were like the tiny bits that makes up a pitch... I think.

Parametric EQ2 will allow you to do that.

open an EQ and lowpass the frequency you want to cut
