how are you supposed to get sounds without downloading packs. i really dont wanna be convicted of copyright. and if i take a sample, put it in my mixer, and add parametric eq 2 to it and tweak that, does that in turn make it my own sound and save me from copyright?

I don't fully understand if you mean illegally downloading or paying for your samples but here is what I know.

You can generate sounds using software or hardware or you can record your own sounds.
Adding an EQ to a sample does not make it yours, it just means you have edited the sample a little.
If you buy the samples then you don't have to worry about copy right.
Most countries have some form of "Fair use" policy which lets you use copy righted content in certain ways. So as long as you are using a sample say from a movie or another track then it will probably be ok as long as you aren't selling it.
If you are selling the track you have to get permission from the copyright holder.

If they are truly free then it should be fine. There is probably some form of terms and conditions on the website saying what you can and cant do with them.

dude your not going to get in trouble unless you start making money off sounds that are copyrighted. use the search function at the top of the forum. you have three retarded threads right now that all have been discussed either here or on google. can't tell if troll or not.

PPG theme song's drum beat is made of a copyrighted sample that no one in the history of production ever payed a cent for. It's not about sampling or not sampling, but about the music you make I guess.

ok well don't worry about copyright shit unless your making bank off of them. no one cares to go after someone who's not making money because its pointless and will only waste money of their own. i say sample the shit out of copyrighted material, I'm sure most of us do it.

Buying royalty-free sample packs (COUGH goldbaby COUGH vengeance COUGH maschine COUGH battery COUGH) or sampling either from hardware or vynil, whatever. Take your time and learn how to search stuff, mate. If you search free sample pack on the forums, you will stumble on Halftone's brostep free samples. Also, watch the masterclasses on youtube (even though some of those are not exactly great in the technical aspect, you can get some nice infomartion), they often talk about what samples they use and how they got it. Sample progressive house or electro house tunes, really easy. Google, you will come across Loopmasters and Primeloops. It's not that hard, just take your time and use your head and sense before firing questions away.

this or they synthesize their own sounds. or if you sample a sound and tweak it beyond recognition thats fine too.
