2 scenes all together?

Is it just me, or is Dubstep kinda split? Between the club/inner city scene and the burning man heads? I know several dudes that play ALL OVER at these 3 day festival type things and such, but you'd never catch them at a club....etc. And Vice versa,..I don't see many of the bigger names in (US Dubstep in general) playing at any of these outdoor type parties.. I'm hearing alot of the same tunes at either event types though. Hmm... is this good or bad? Why no crossover? I notice similarities in (LA's) DnB scene between the Club Djs v. Rave Djs.... it's almost two different crowds all together. I know some Burning man types have been into Dubstep for a while, and I do know some heads that do both scenes....but in general,..it seems that there is a whole different crowd out there that us city dwellers aren't being exposed to.

Not sure about US, but over here, generally 'city dwellers' play at the festivals, like
Vex'd, Digital Mystiks, Loefah, Mary Anne Hobbs, Neil Landstrum, Pinch, Milanese etc (check Glade Lineup)
But we generally only have music festivals in summer.
Do you guys have fests all year round?

Not a lot of Dubsteppers in either scene here yet, but while there is a distinction there's just as many DJs like me who play both indoors (usually my own events since no-one else is really doing them) and other's outdoor events.

I think this is pretty much a California thing.
No offense to anyone, but I personally am not big on the camping / partying thing. Id prefer clubs, bars, warehouse, etc.. Probably a matter of preference I guess. Regardles, I've tried hard to get those people to come to our shows, and it doesnt seem like the care - they'd prefer to go to their own things. Its nice they enjoy the music, but Ive heard some strong yet uneducated opinions from the burners. I've even heard claims that dubstep was invented at burning man/space island/etc..

Yeah, in contrast a good percentage of our audience indoors is drawn from the outdoor crowd.

even if we wanted to be "one family", with the exception of a few burners on here, most of them would rather do their own thing. we need relationship counseling i think.

camping is lame. I like clothes, bathrooms and generally staying out of touch with nature.

meh..i think all the "burners" up here in seattle go out to clubs as well. dirty steve is one of the club promoters pushing the sound locally and i know he goes to bm. we all come from different scenes and have different ideas, but we all get along and come together when it counts. one love.
