Dubstep Report From Outpost: San Antonio, Texas

Post by jutboyd » Sun Mar 26, 2006 7:33 pm

Hello to all on the Forum-
Just wanted to give a little report about a show I played last night here in San Antonio. To put it succinctly, the show was big. Lots of people totally feeling the warmness of the dub-bass blanket. Seckle and Mr. Nice you'll be happy to know lots of cute girls were feelin it too. Started the night with Dennis Brown, ended it with Boxcutter-Brood.Tracks that got reloaded: Dj Distance-Fallen (remember we are still a bit behind, but come-now this track is classic), Loefah-I Remix (killed it), Loefah-Canyfloss Remix (really killed it), D1-Degrees (bassline bouncer), and Scream the boy wonder had several reloads Glamma causing the biggest fallout. And a few more that I can't remember right now, (one of the new Benga tracks too, big up Benga!) but needless to say it was a great night. Just felt like I should share with you all, let you know we appreciate all the hard work. Big ups to everyone, esp. Yunx, Task, JoeyNice, DMZ,DaveQ, Seckle, Lil Brother Boyd, and all the Texas Dubsteppers. Halfsteppin into the future!

Texas is building up slowly. There is a big DnB night in Houston with Klute and Amit coming up with a dubstep second room, and I know Bob is working it out in Austin as well. We'll see how it goes, would like to pull our resources and have a big dubstep night this summer. I'm looking for spots right now.

What you talkin bout willis?

Up in SF they had a Run the Road 2 release party last month. Not to mention
Grime City on fridays in SF + Coastline sessions at Coastline Brewery in
Santa Cruz on Wed. nights -the first dubstep weekly in the world.

Also there are several buddy dj's on the west coast of the U.S. and Canada
(Myself)- Autonomic, Monkeytek Dj, Tekblazer, Tomas, Thamegatron, Lexxus, Nick Argon, Matty G, subtek, cyan etc...
and many others
-sorry to anyone i didn't mention.

Also a SF resisdent- Dj Abstract contributed a track to Tempa Allstars vol.1

Peace...

Texas is definitley building up at a nice pace.

Two weeks ago, we had about 80 people come and rock out in a club that has a capacity of 60. Thick vibe.

Glad to hear your night went well Jut. We're gonna have to link up soon.

Third coast US of A repping!

Soundin' hot down there..

I'd like to add that being stuck in Houston Airport on your way to Mexico is a most relaxing experience.
They play low level ambient music throught the terminal and all the video monitors play screen saver like morphing bubble graphics.

Calm as a Hindu Cow that place is...

On our way home we stopped in Newark.. *spits on the ground*

Ever since I played drums in a punk band many moons ago I picked up the DIY ethic.
if there is no community, fans or scene then it is incumbent upon me to do what it takes to create the infrastructure and find like minded souls to do it with me!

In other words.. there is lotsa buildin' to do on the West coast....

It's all for the pure joy of it though!
