Dubstep research in BRISTOL!?

Hi,

as you might already know from http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=214190post I am writing a final thesis (and maybe a book) about the dubstep scene. As I recently moved to London (I´m from germany) for this, I would like to visit Bristol on the next weekend.

Could somebody give me an advice where I should go or would somebody be interested in getting interviewed?

Let me know
Phire

This is my first article, which I wrote in english, a review of the current Pinch&Shackleton album: http://ntropy.de/?p=2746

Make sure you drop into Idle Hands, http://www.idlehandsbristol.com/

That's about it in terms of places to go, you should try and stick around to catch a night, though there's not a lot of straight up dubstep on offer anymore.

Maybe think about heading to leeds, there's a Subdub on next weekend, http://www.facebook.com/events/163740697060291/ sure there would be people there you could talk to.

Good luck!

I also recognized that there aren´t so much pure dubstep parties in Bristol...was it always like this? Maybe people arent´really part of one scene and are more open ?

what do you think of http://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/whats ... -xxxy-4887night? Its not a sheer dubstep night but what´s the club like?

Worth a visit?

phaeleh is playing a 2 hour set in that very venue on wednesday mate if you're in the city by then, 3 quid entry as well so worth the visit :W: you're right about there not being many 'straight-up' dubstep nights in the city, especially now with dubloaded gone (RIP) but nights like 51*27 (at the thekla) and crazylegs prove that bristol is still pushing innovative and current bass music 4 DA R@\/£R$!!!!

Good luck with your research mate.

As you're only here friday night i would suggest you go to that night but yeah, timbuk2 (the venue) hasn't got much relevance to dubstep i spose. you wanna visit the croft, where dubloaded ran for a while and you'll see clockwork which is shut down but yea. you just need to go to the area of stokes croft in general which is only 2 mins from the centre of town. like someone said, idle hands is up there and you may wanna visit the old site where rooted records was, take a few photos and that 8)

thanks for the infos...

I think about coming at another weekend though...what about next week or the second weekend in february? Are there any better events?

If not, would anyone be up to meet me somewhere in Bristol if I would head down this friday and create a kind of "roundtable", talk about dubstep and the scene?

I´m also running a blog and could write an article about that...but more important are infos for my book project...

I´m only in the UK until the end of february but I really have to see Bristol before I go back...
