the almighty Led Zeppelin plays "Fool in the Rain"--
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2015S3A-lg
the song is is Cmaj/Am (depending on what you want to hear)-- all white keys on the piano, regardless.
fire up your keyboard and play C-E-G. Play, in your right hand, C with your thumb, E with your middle finger, E with your pinkie.
see the shape your hand makes? play a note--skip a note--play--skip--play? Good. don't lose that. that's a triad.
Now, play along with the song, just triads going up the scale:
Cmaj, Dm, Em, Fmaj, then skip up to Am, back down Gmaj, and end off w/ a solo C, no chord.
now stop the almighty Zep and and do it slowly-- see how each chord flows into each other? Some solidly happy, some solidly dark, some transitional?
Boom, music theory.
