Basically I am producing with an onboard sound card right now that came with my new xps 8300 and now in need of a serious internal pcie sound card that will improve my sound quality and dynamic range.
I've heard mixed reviews about both the creative titanium fat1lity xfi card and the asus xonar stx. but can only choose either since there is no other available pci slot, just a couple pcie slots left... I am not sure which one would be best suited for me? My price limit is 200$ but willing to go an extra 40-50 if it's really worth it.

also, sorry if i sound noobish but, where would I hook up my speakers or headphones to hear the sound? I dont see an audio jakc in the emu 1212m?

Its 1/4 jacks, you can get adapters for cheap and in packs of like 10 for a couple of whatever your currency is.

to be fair i really need a new soundcard as well, just wondering how many effects can u run when buying a powercore soundcard or a UAD1 / UAD2 card?
if someone can give me an example of how many effects their specific card model can handle.. i want a good soundcard to free up as much CPU as i can basically
