Post all your recommendations of albums released in 2012 that are non-dubstep/grime/garage...

Also, can we keep youtube links to a minimum? They are quite annoying and people are smart enough with the internet these days. Perhaps a text link is fine, but try keep the embedded video's to a minimum shall we?

I've really been feeling Lapalux "When You're Gone" release. Super chill but very tasteful beat production.

Been pretty bored by these guys since maybe 'Frances The Mute' - Although saying that the bits they played live last year were pretty cool.

True but Behles was a part of Monolake for four years :) I actually don't care about Ableton at all though

New Evian Christ - Kings And Them mixtape is getting some play here. And it's free!

I think the first four tracks show certain promise from this character (though I admit, it won't be for everyone and some the ideas haven't quite matured yet, are don't seem to go certain places yet).

After the first 4-5 tracks, things go down hill a bit. If you like Clams Casino, you'll want to check it out though.

I've listened to the stream quite a few times today, it's a good album and kind of reminds me of Bedlam is a little less frantic.

+1, though personally I would qualify this as house forum material (I believe it has a thread there) but yeah, warrants a mention here too.

Emptyset - Medium

Third full album from the Bristol duo James "Ginz" Ginzburg & Paul Purgas under their Emptyset moniker. As with the last one, this one sees a release on the quality Subtext label (run by Ginz and Pinch) that also released Roly (Vex'd) Porter's ambient promising debut "Aftertime" last year.

It is actually a mini album with only 5 tracks (still considered an LP). And it veers even further away from their techno and dubstep roots displayed on the first album. Very much slow noise/basic channel experimentation but with a heavy sub bass kick to it. Hardly any structures left to grab on to, just throbbing electronic minimalism. If you enjoyed their previous output, don't rest on this one. Fans of Scorn, 3 by 3 records etc. will also find this quite enjoyable.
