How to search for specific vocals/clips?

Post by Dzanjin » Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:43 am

I know there are plenty of places on line to find vocal clips and samples, but my question is do you guys have any method of searching for specific quotes or clips?

For example: You want to find a vocal clip that says "fish and chips" with no specific clip in mind. How would you search for it?

The best I've come up with so far is to do a search to see if the clip you have in mind happens to be in a tv show or a movie and then just search for it that way...

What do you guys do? What have you found to be the most efficient?

Try freesound.org or even better, record them yourself.

I've looked into freesound but most of the clips I look for I can never find on there.
I would def record them myself if I could.

Any other ideas?

That google translator thing that spells stuff? You could use a personal recorder, a celphone, a built in computer mic, anything, it's not about sounding pristine, it's about sounding good

http://www.allsubs.org/search-movie-quo ... and+chips/
Check which movies have that quote, then get the movie.

Basically, google for: movie quotes <the vocal you want>

This is basically the method I've been using, just couldn't ever find a site that would search through the quotes like allsubs :-)

That's brilliant, I didn't think to search a site that has all movie subtitles

Thanks e-motion, this is exactly what I was looking for.

cheers :Q:
