There are many different kinds of delays. It's hard to give suggestions without knowing what you're looking for.

Echoboy is great but something tells me he's not looking to spend that kind of money at this point.

For free get the TAL delays, interruptor echos @ www.interruptor.ch, find dB Tempo Delay too. Don't underestimate the included delay in your DAW too, most of them are quite nice.

The PSP 85 is unreal! I highly suggest it.

My all-time favourite delay is Ohmboyz from Ohm Force with the Classic Skin. It's pretty unique for getting creative and automating it. Makes awesome buildups and breaks.

If you are a windows guy, they are all freeware and great, Interruptor is a beast.

Dude, seriously, worship at the alter of the best free delay:

That's a dl link. It is free. That is one tasty delay, bro. Character. Honestly I have a grip of free delays and a couple of paid ones, and the ET 301, just time and time again ends up in my tracks.

I'm wracked with remorse. Have to post this:

http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/downloads

check half way down for NastyDLA, fucking psychotic delay. Totally free. Bunch of shit on that page that is psycho, just don't deal with it yet. Work that delay into your setup, then come back and pick one at a time.
