Automating Bitcrusher on Logic?

In this track at 1:50, I automated one of the Bass-lines with Bit-crusher (down-sampling, not bit rate).
Note: It also has an Auto-filter running. There is a clicking sound like every other 1/8Th of a beat that is really frustrating me, I think it's where you can only automate the Bit-crusher by steps as opposed to a smooth line (I.e. it can jump from 40-30 in one step with nothing in-between) that is causing it to make this distorted clicking noise. Any way to remove this unwanted noise? Or can anyone recommend a different bit-crushing plugin that I can automate a bit smoother?
Anyway here is the track I'm having trouble with...

If your using CMT i think there's like 2 stages of distortion per number. I've never had any trouble automating it in FL, so i don't think it's the bitcrusher, if that's the one your using.
Also, what is this Auto-filter you speak of?

Sorry to sound like a newb but what does CMT stand for? I'm using the Bitcrusher that is called Bitcrusher that comes with logic, when you go to Inserts > Distortion > Bitcrusher. Also the FIlter i am using is for LFO purposes and is under Inserts > Filter > Autofilter. Sometime the Autofilter adds its own clicks when you don't setup the envelope right, and goes out of sync when you dont start the song from the beginning. But it sounds fine when I bypass the Bitcrusher. It's just when the Autofilter goes from 40->39->38->37 etc... step by step, it adds a clicking sound between each one if the note is held. (I'll try upload an example later..)
Either way.. what is CMT?

It's a freeware bitcrusher plug that everyone and their mother has, and i assumed you were using. Apologies. I've never used logic, so it could be either, but it sounds like you're either automating it too slow, so you can hear the changes pretty clearly as it's happening, or it's the autofilter, which from what you wrote, might introduce those problems. Try automating it at the same rate with a different method, and if it still happens, it's the bitcrusher, if not, it's the filter.

Yeah I was guessing its the bog standard Bitcrusher that comes with logic that was causing the problems, because i carefuly automated it so that it downsamples to the beat, but I'm still getting this distorted clicking sound, just on the beat. Which doesn't sound too bad or noticeable from a listeners point of view, but I don't like something being there if I didn't purposely put it in! Anyway thanks for your help, if CMT doesn't solve the problem, I'm either gonna try making a track for each setting I use on Bitcrusher and screw the automation, or keep the automation but start the note again very time it moves up a downsample. I'll be sure to post a example of this annoying click sound later on, just so people can clearly see what I'm blabbering about..

I've found the logic autofilter really buggy, creates a lot of clicks. You sure it's not that rather than the bitcrusher?

Try turning down the dry wet and automating multiple instances of the same plug with subtler settings maybe? Sometimes this can help if you're pushing something through an effect too hard. Bitcrushing is weird though, i almost never know what it's going to do if I'm not just inserting it on a dry sound.

And this might be it. I've used a few filter that were more jumpy than they had any right to be.

Well here is an example of a Sine wave travelling through a Bitcrusher that's Downsampling parameter is being automated from 40x to 0x.
Note: No Autofilter being used You will hear the clicks get louder and quieter in some places, and im guessing i should just switch to a better Bitcrusher... If such a thing exists XD

Theres no way to get rid of the click, its made by the bitcrusher because it only move down the downsampling rate in full integers nothing in between. I'd recomend either using a different bitcrusher (decimort is a good one) or just timing it right so that it sounds natural, I've done it before in a few of my songs

hmm i did time it so it was 1/8th or 1/16th in my song, so its not too noticible too a listener, but just annoying from my point of view beacuse i can notice it, thanks i'll be sure to check out decimort or CMT. Care to post a song where you have tried automating Bitcrusher?

Just had a quick search around for Decimort, any chance you can link me to a free full version if such thing exists? or do i have to torrent O.O

Maybe try automating the bit-depth on a medium-ish downsampling setting?
And I'll hit you with a link to CMT and Decimort(if i can find it), when i get home.

I don't like Logic's BitCrusher too much, only thing with pops you could try is noise gating but don't know how effective that would be?

I still need a lesson or two in using the noise gate insert. Every time I have tried using it its demolished the sound I want XD properly one of them tools that is initially quite hard to get your head around, such as compression. So far I've downloaded CMT but I cant remember how to install dll.s into logic. I'll master that later on tonight i think with some help from the web. Still would like a link to Decimort if you find one Killamike

It looks as though it's payware now. But it sounds really great. I might actually buy a copy, haha. CMT should be able to do what you want it to though. If it's still giving you trouble, let me know.
