Deleted all my tracks off soundcloud/starting again

good idea/bad idea...?

I hate jumping between genres. So one of the reasons I did this was to concentrate on a specific "sub genre" and just to freshen things up. Although there was a track on there with 5000 views. Just a fresh start I guess.
My sc was a mish mash and I want to push a sound out and take things seriously now.
Two years down the line time to stop fucking about. :P

Anyone else done this/regret it etc?

Id say yeh, delete the lot!

I take things a step further and delete all work files :D

I look at it as a learning curve and I still have the knowledge to do any of it again.

Just dont delete all your samples, its a pain.

Delete all your VST presets as well whilst you're at it.

I recently cleared my soundcloud because I felt like my production got alot better compared to my old tunes.
But I am still wondering, I can't seem to settle with a sound, I want to make music that I feel like making and not stick to one genre.

Sorrry for hijacking this thread but should I create an alias or just upload all my different tunes under 1 name?

I've been thinking about just deleting everything. I've also thought about changing my name but I can never settle on anything, as well as on any specific sound.

I can't really see it hurting anything. You might lose some followers but I doubt that really matters. Most soundcloud users tend to follow people just to get you to follow them back anyway.

I lost everything when my computer crashed and I got my mac and moved from Fruity to Logic. I've narrowed it all down. One pack of my favourites kicks, snares and hats. My favourite breaks and pads, vocals etc. Also cleared my Soundcloud a while ago, now i'm trying to keep all the tunes on there in one direction. I would say move everything to an external hardrive and private all your sc tracks, if you change your mind you can go back to where you were

Bit late now but why didn't you just create a new account? New name, new style, new persona?

man my advice, i <try to > produce lots of different music, pending on mainly the way i feel but also beacuse i like lots of different music.

my advice is keep it all one place. jsut create a new set and label them under a new alias ur working under but keeping within ur existing sondcloud account. if people or ur "followers" cant work out the new layout of ur soundcloud they dont deserve to follow u. using spotlight tab helps emphasise this.

also dont delete everything, just tidy up ur soundcloud, every now and again i do this, delete previous efforts that i dont think were up to scratch etc etc, but i would not delete everything, i suppose it depends on how much space u have on ur soundcloud.

I deleted all mine while back... my music has moved on to techno now so I had to fresh up the Soundcloud. It was quite liberating. I did have a mild panic attacj for an hour or two afterwards tho' :)

i usually just have a general tidy up of my stuff every so often, but i dont limit myself to one genre, if thats what you mean by one sound.

Did someone say techno? ;-) Interested in what you're coming up with, I'll check it tomorrow.

Step one - make 3 accounts under different names
step two - make 1 account under a name you actually want to go by (optional)
Step three- put out every tune you ever make onto one of those 3 soundcloud accounts.
step four - put ones that stand out on the one you want to go by or wait until you are ready (only use this account if you plan to send to Djs/play out yourself - if you are not sure you definitely are not ready.

Advantage - feedback on all tracks/you never know what could happen - you may pick up a random following of people on your experimental account named "Bills Muziks"

This was a serious comment - imagine a prodution environment where every synth is a blank canvas, the only sounds the ones that you yourself program into it, totally unique. Creativity through experimentation and learning.

Changed from KayezDub to Kambian recently. KayezDub was a shitty alias (kambian isnt thaat much better tbf) and I can't say I was particularly happy with anything I'd uploaded. Didn't delete the KayezDub account though - it's still nice to have a little look and see whats going on on there every now and again.

In the meantime, I haven't actually uploaded anything on the Kambian account yet. My 'fresh start' has just turned into a dissatisfaction with anything I create.

Anywho - don't see a need to delete all the old stuff unless you have some particularly painful memories attached to the tracks you made or something.

Mala starts with a blank canvas for everything and I think it shows. His shit just gels so well and he makes good tunes with simple sounds very often.

I have some random bits on Soundcloud. Nothing finished on there. Just had an hour long special record of all my own stuff played on the Combat recordings show on Sub FM on Monday night. Audio for that will be online soon ;-)
