Hi!

Been searching everywhere. Youtube, Google, dsf... can't find any good tutorial for filter sweeps in Cubase.
None of the plugins that come with Cubase works good for filter sweep I think. I tried but doesn't seem to get hold of it :-/
Anyone could point me in the right direction with a plugin also? Don't mind if it cost a little bit.. but free is always best.

What's the name of the filter plug in cubase,? Tonic I think? You tried that one and didn't care for it?

Ehm well didn't really get the results I was looking for. I will try it some more then if you think it'll work! Someone on another forum said it was crap for it and I needed an external plugin for filter sweeps =P

well i got it at a shop like but i know i saw it online somewhere

You might be right.

I found a way to do the filter sweep using the cutoff but it was too little filter effect.. and I don't know what all the knobs do in Tonic. :-<

Well, I am a beginner, and I know how to record automation (with this quick bar, don't have any hardware for it so I do it with my mouse lol). But I can't find the automation for filter sweeps in the key editor when I try to edit the track. I find pitch shift, main volume, and a lot of things that does nothing..

How do I find automation for such things?

^ i am not familiar enough with cubase to get specific, but you should be able to open a lane of some sort on whichever track has the filter you are automating, choose which knob to automate from a menu of some sort and mouse in the automation data, you do not NEED to record it there is a way to do it manual and specifically. You will do yourself a great justice to read the manual for cubase, alot may be over your head but there will be alot learned from it. There may be pdfs available online.

yeah theres a lot of ways to automate in cubase. you can set up quick controls, which is probably easiest if you have a midi controller. or you can just click the 'w' for write, and wobble the slider with the mouse, and it'll record it. you should really read the manual, it sounds like you have a ton of stuff to learn. there's several different automation types, such as latch, trim etc. its worth finding out what they all do.

the filters in cubase aren't anything special, i've ditched most of cubase's built in stuff tbh. i'd recommend fabfilter volcano, and all the other fabfilter stuff, very nice to use.

the cubase synths suk man you cant even start your own patch you have to edit one of there's its best to start of with a bass lead preset there preety much the closest to a inital preset sound, id recomend buying and learning one of the following synths; zeta 1.5 i think there giving it away free now but if not msg me il give you my old serial,

vb1 is just fine for filter sweeps.
Just automate volume and eq sweeps.

You can mention every synth but if you don`t know how to apply a filter sweep then what`s the point?

You might want to play with tonic a bit
more , not sayin it's the best filter plug ever but look for a wet/dry knob and set to wet, u could also turn up the resonance a bit . Too automate a sweep just hit the w button in upper left corner, hit
play and move the knobs you want. Don't bother with Ham Vst, it only exports to Mp3 and record executives will laugh at Mp3's.
