That Grime 808 sound

Couldn't find a good example off the top of my head so I'll reference this instead, but at 2:50 that classic kind of grime 808 sounding bass...how is that made? I've made versions of it in some of my own productions (ie, at 3:17 here) by just using a saturator on an 808 with a sinusoid waveform but I want to learn how to make it in Massive.

I understand how to do the sub bass portion of it with the pitch envelopes, but what is that higher portion of it made of? Been trying several combinations of things but it never sounds as punchy and crisp as this one, which I've heard repeated in a bunch of other tunes so I'm thinking it might be a sample too.

i wouldn't bother making it in massive
cuz its just what it is, an 808
try a parabolic shaper?
i'm thinking some kinda waveshaping distortion.

Weren't these sounds originally made with Rebirth? Anyway, do it however you want to do it. You can use massive if you want to. Just look at the waveform of an 808. See what is going on there? Do that in Massive.

This should be brought out, at least once a week.
