Since I started production, I've focused on making my tracks sound like transformers having sex. I'm done with that. I'm looking to make some dubstep that (although still a bit filthy) has most elements of good UK dubstep in it. So I figured I'd start by replicating some UK style basslines and drum tracks. Something a little like this track (Probably one of my favorite dubstep tracks for quite some time)
Any suggestions you could give me to help change my sound?

I lovvvvveeeeeee this style of dubstep, its been an unhealthy obsession of mine for quite some time now. If your using massive then I recommend setting your wavetable(s) to format.
I also recommend that you only use one bass patch. Massive is extremely versatile, especially if you utilize the macro controls. Try assigning a macro to the oscillator's wavetable position and the modulation parameter.
You can aslo get some pretty good sounds by going to the lowest octave you can go and pitch up your oscillators.
Make sure you bring your filter resonense up a little more then usual so you can really hear the LFO. Thats going to give the sound that bubbly quality.
The hardest part (well for me at least) is finding the right LFO patterns and getting the bass to arppegiate the way I want it to...I'll let you know when I figure that one out lol

Be sure to have a good amount of low end going on that can be easily heard. Make sure the sub bass has alot of movement aswell as the bass above it.
Make sure everything has a good amount of reverb, enough to make it feel spatial but not overally saturated. Low reverb time, have reverbs on sends.
Also make use of delay on snares, percussion, cymbals. Make sure there is a dark sounding atmosphere playing through the track.
