you won't find something more unique than this in dubstep history!

I have a copy of BAM003, in vg+ condition. When Skream played in Illinois near the University of Illinois, I was one of the opening dj's. Later at an afterparty he signed this wax for me.

I'm a reliable record seller - check my thread for "Selling all of my dubstep records - make offers on rare wax" and you can see a list of all the vinyl I sold off over the course of a few months to very content buyers.

If you want this wax, shoot me a pm with your best possible offer. When I check my pm's, I'll sell it to the highest offer. You have to be able to paypal me right away.

I'm no longer collecting dubstep vinyl! So holding on to this was my last touch of sentimentalism! Buy this from me now!

meh, it is in the end an artifact. I've got a new perspective on life and it feels great! Stoic philosophy helps too. I have streamlined goals, I have my memories, and I don't need objects around me in order to have a history.

so ANY TAKERS?

In which case you'll be happy to sell it for what you bought it for, presumably?

Ha!

oh are we now moralizing about the virtuous and appropriate sale of records? tssssk, that's a bit hilarious. something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

back when i bought it, before the autograph, i got it off of discogs, and I think I paid about $80 us dollars for it, maybe even more

plus just because you say the word "presumably" doesn't mean you have actually established a logical connection between a) why I don't want to own the record anymore, and b) why I must "presumably" then sell the record for something cheap

that's kind of like when my girlfriend inserts the word "obviously" in front of certain claims, as if something has been evident and yet it has not.

I may at one time highly value gold jewelry, and pay a high price to collect it. Then at a future point in my life I might decide I value free time more than I value shiny objects. I would then "presumably" sell the gold jewelry for whatever price someone else would be willing to pay, so that I can have more of the free time I seek.

bottom line is, I really do have the memories I have forever, and I do fondly cherish them. at this point in my life, the amount of artifacts/trinkets/things i feel i need around me to trigger such memories and reminisce is extremely minimal. i've hoarded and collected vinyl records for over a decade and i feel a great relief getting rid of a lot of the extra stuff i had lying around forever!

I'm happy for you. But profiteering is an unpleasant trait. Why don't you just stick it back on Discogs, seems like you'd be more likely to find a buyer who is in line with your mentality.

I think you're reading a little too much into that comment if that's what you've come up with.

Profiteering? Is that like raping, stealing, or killing? Or some other kind of sinn-ing? Please.

What's happening here is that I have something I don't value anymore, and I would like to sell it to someone who does value it. So then I went on a forum where people do value and generally enthuse about such things, to seek out the the person who would like to buy it from me. This seems to me like a civil, logical process that benefits all concerned parties (and if you're not buying the record, you're not really a concerned party).

I feel ZERO moral guilt about the fact that I am selling a record that I don't want anymore.

And no, I don't think I'm reading into your "presumably" at all. I'm actually a philosophy phd and spent some years teaching logic courses in college. "Presumably" is a word that is used in english language to imply some sort of connection between claims/premises to suggest a conclusion (like "Therefore", "Thus", and in some cases "Obviously"). You didn't even bother mentioning which claims or premises you were stringing together for the supposed "Presumably", so I did some of that work for you. Really you just don't have an argument here: you're unjustifiably taking some sort of moral high ground over the sale of objects, and I"m sipping coffee on the other side of the computer, amused at how morally haughty people can get over straightforward things. But I guess when you really care about some kind of creative endeavor and the artifacts that come along with it (dubstep music and its records, in this case), passions can overwhelm logic, which is a bit charming.

If this was a star wars forum, and I was selling an ewok action figure mint on card that George Lucas had signed for me with a sharpie, and you were someone who REALLY LOVED star wars, you might be similarly enraged about my PROFITEERING over the plastic ewok figure, and would perhaps also suggest that PRESUMABLY I should only sell the figure for what I orginally paid for it, to avoid all moral reprimand.

Awesome, good for you. Must give reading things on Internet forums a whole new level to overreact to.

Do not get this at all, you've just replaced one scenario with another that is exactly the same? Wtf?

Don't see the problem with trying to sell this vinyl for whatever the hell he wants. If you don't like it, either ignore it or write a letter to Terry Wogan on Points of View. I'm sure he'll be happy to give even less of a shit.

Fucking threads like this where people just tear into each other for no good reason......sigh.

Thought everyone was being remarkably civil, all things considered.I even gave some advice;

I gave a similar scenario to try to make evident my suggestion that the emotional attachments people may have to dubstep and its vinyl records may be making people think there is some kind of moral issue in re-selling such records, when I think there is none.

In other words, if you read the ewok figure example and think "yeah sell the figure and the autograph on it if later on you don't want it anymore, for at that point it's just a plastic thing to you," then you are understanding my perspective about the vinyl record as well.

of course, if you REALLY EMOTIONALLY CARE about star wars, then the example of the star wars figure is in every significant respect the same as the dubstep vinyl record example, and my use of the example is then ineffective (because the very thought of selling off an oh-so-special object, signed at a special time in history by dear old George Lucas himself, makes you terribly upset and prone to tearful outbursts at whoever might attempt such shameful profiteering)

but I'm hoping there's at least some sappy dubstep fans who are not at the same time also sappy star wars fans, in which case my purpose could become apparent

meanwhile, pm me if you want the wax. if no offers, even if just for the sake of owning the BAM003 vinyl (i.e. regardless of the autograph), it will sit in a cool, dark shelf somewhere until i decide to revive the attempt to sell it, at my leisure. I'm sorry if the thought that I don't terribly need this vinyl that I will retain in my possession until I sell it offends the dubstep sentimentalists out there. Maybe you could erect some sort of shrine, to pray for the wax and await its release into more just and worthy vinyl-collectors hands? Perhaps you think that, given that I keep it yet don't much care for it, I am essentially holding it hostage? You could maybe organize a petition to demand its release from myself, the swarthy and unscrupulous profiteer?

see ya guys, off to work, it's been fun - I'll check my pm's later

and yeah i could list it on discogs, maybe I'll do that too. With my last round of record sales I got in the habit of listing on dubstepforum first, so I had no particular reason to do it on a forum vs discogs. oh well
