Does anyone know of any plug-ins specifically designed for this? Rather than just automating it from just left to right etc.

I dont under stand why you want a vst to automate midi data for you :/

Autopan on Ableton is good for that, or just add LFO on the pan section... Or create a simple automation from left to right on the track.
Last possibility : Get in front of your speakers, turn your from left to right on the desired rate. You have have a DIY dynamic panning VST now.

Nah I don't want a simple LFO left-right, I'm talking more rhythmic or sequenced. Drawing in an automation for that is long.

If you're not in Ableton, try to find some free "autopan-like", or maybe you can try to duplicate your track, and automation on each one, change the phaze of the LFO to make it ultrawide. ( Not sure my english is good enough to explain it clearly )

Do it manually mate, if it takes you some more time that's just gonna make you more happy with the end result when it turns out to be good. I mean I don't care if something takes me ages to do, as long as I like the result of it.

Check TAL Filter 2
You can use it for pan, but it's a LP, BP, HP volume and notch filter and you can draw the automation curve
Edit: and the best thing-it's free!

So you figured posting on DSF, asking about a VST, waiting for response, downloading VST, installing VST, and learning how it works would be the fast route

Calm your jets internet superstar. All I asked was for some tools that may provide interesting techniques with regards to stereo imaging, beyond a simple pan left to right. Is that OK? Have I met your elitist producer code of conduct?
If I knew you were going to take personal offense i wouldn't have bothered. Christ, prick.

Yeah too right, appreciate the recommendations. The Cake Pan one looks like it'll do the job, cheers!

You could also use sidechaining to this - just automate the l-to-r panning control as the destination, and have a trigger based on your beat (or whatever). The panning would then stutter from left to right depending on what the hit is doing at that time.
Could even take this one further by having a couple of silent tracks running through the project overall for joint triggers, giving a variation on the l/r depending on what's hitting at the time.

I dont get what you want and mean by dynamic panning. You say you want something more than just left to right, but that's what panning IS, just deciding where in the stereo field you want it.

Edit, I read what you wanna do, and copy'n'paste automation is still the quickest rout in my opinion, you want a arpeggiated or step sequenced pan essentially?
