Chart showing where formants are located

I was doing some research on a variety of sites. Wikipedia has a chart that shows where the formants for each vowel is located.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formants
I just wanted to share. Also, can anyone confirm? Is it correct or is it just pure nonsense?

What would the bandwidth numbers correlate into midi?

its not to do with the notes you play its the notches you create in the eq which give it the vowel sound, just like how you can talk at different pitches

I know I'm talking about how the midi values only go up to 127 and done of those Q values are above that

IM not sure i understand you, the formant table is too do with the frequency of the notch, the bandwidth and the amount the notch is boosting. BTW i can only see the second link (not the wiki one) as i am at work so if i am missing the point thats why

Ok what I'm saying is there anyway to see the ratio from the bandwidth value to the value in your daw which typically goes only to 127

ah ok i get you, it will depend on what EQ your using to make the notch tbh, all the notches are quite tight but aslong as your starting point is the frequency given then it should be fine just use your ear too pick out how tight it has to be

@ehbrums your Q is 1-127? Strange, It's usually a decimal number. If you find one with decimal numbers then do this: Q = (sqrt(2^bandwidth))/((2^bandwidth) − 1)

It's not what you set your q to, it's the range that that formant is in that you have to sweep. I think. I couldn't read the first wiki article either (school), but i think you're supposed to make a notch, and boost it by the decibals listed. Then sweep it up how ever many bw. If that doesn't work sweep it down. If I'm chatting shit, someone let me know.

values 1-127 in terms of midi only has to do with that fact there are 127 steps/points of resolution when applied to whatever midi is controlling. If its a fader the numbers it corresponds to could be any amounts 0-XXXXXXXX or,in the case of Q on a EQ, 0-1. Thats whatever you want to program it to be.

So you automate the resonance here and it does... what? Make it sound like a vowel? Or do you not automate anything?

imagine your throat when your making an oooo sound and an eeeee sound, theres no movement its a constant sound its only when you want to swap between the two that your throat has to move.
